Whimsy Stamps ~ A Late Chris-Moose Share

Hey lovelies, I'm back with one of those cards I promised I'd come back and share. This is the one that my brother chose for my little boy when he was picking through my cards for the 'nieces and nephews'. We have a huge family, so we pool our resources and get the kids something fab! So this was the card that my sweet lil' guy got with his Christmas treat.

How cute is this wee guy?! This stamp is from the talented artist Krista Heij-Barber and is in Whimsy's Rubber Stamp line. I've loved this stamp called Merry Moose-mas for ages and really had to add it to my stash last year. I coloured him up with my Prismacolor Pencils, but have NO idea what I'm doing, so was just playing really. Not a natural with these sorts of things, so I consider it a win when my colouring comes out passable! Hehe.

If you follow my Instagram Page, you may remember my black and white sneak peek of this lil' guy. Here's the colour version of that shot. You can see I'm a total novice with the pencils, but man did I have fun trying! I didn't have a grey in my set, so I used the black to shade the scarf and just smudged the heck out of it, to soften the colour a bit. Not even a little bit technical there, but oodles of fun! (Note to self: need a grey for shading!

There goes that 'favourite die' of mine again too! I adore these Notched Squares, they make the prettiest interest on a card. Nothing too swirly and fancy, but some lovely detail for the eye. I like to create my cards 5x5 and 6x6 most often, so I use the die that matches and then a circle punch from my stash to notch the base card. I have cut the base card with the dies too in the past, which also works well, but I really like this quick easy finish. It's not perfect so don't look too closely, I just eye-ball the corners when I'm doing it. There is a very clever way to get a precise cut though. I'll see if I can find some of my pics to share that for a later post.

When I saw the cute papers from our Christmas paper set last year, I just knew I'd want to put these two elements together. I chose the chocolate brown paper layers to work in with the patterned paper and love the framing it gave the image.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope your New Year is off to a good start. I've had a lovely long break from work which is SO what I needed and we've not gone away due to hubby needing some surgery. So I'm thoroughly enjoying getting all caught up with crafty things! Hubby is post-op today and convalescing, so glad to be past that lil' hurdle!

I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. In the meantime wishing you all a wonderful day and week. Hugs and happy crafting! xoxo
