Whimsy Stamps ~ New Year, New Stash!

Hey there crafty pals. Did you get some new stash in your Christmas parcels?! I got some new copics from hubby and refills, so I was thrilled! I hope 2021 is treating you well. I've been enjoying some rest time with family and though I'd like to say I've been crafting, it's been more of a catch up everything I've missed kinda deal! I really ought to make my New Years crafty resolution to do better with my Instagram posts. Quite frankly, I'm pants at doing them, but I will try! I have a few creations I've not managed to share at all from last year, so will try to roll those out these next few days. Today though, I'm sharing the first of my creations for the first Whimsy Stamps Digital Release of 2021! Ooh that does sounds fabulous and it is, an awesome release!

I've used a super cute image from the MelJen's Collection called Little Snowboy to create this slimline card with 3 very similar versions of the wee snowboy on it. If figured we'd have a winter party! Oh how I loved making snowmen with the kids in London. We all miss those days!! No snow here in Auckland, that's for sure! Muggy hot days lately!

I coloured up these cute snowboys in the same colours, but altered the patterns slightly. The top one has a red hat with polka dots, the bottom a blue hat with chevrons and I wanted to combine the look in the central snowboy, so used both colours on the gloves and hat and made his scarf a plaid scarf! It's really cute and shiny in reality!

You can see the sparkle in the shot above, taken at an angle to show the shine and you get a close up view below too. To get that lovely burgundy red, I've used Copic markers, starting with R89 to create that lovely deep hue, then R39, R37, R35 and R32 to create the shine. The Copic blues I've used are from the ones I like to think of as the 'denim' hues, B99 for the dark base, B97, B95 and B93 to give the highlights. I mention these as I was asked recently what colours I've used in my creations and if I don't note it here, I'll forget! The silvery lurex type finish in my plaid scarf and the hat and gloves was created with a metallic Gelly Roll pen by Sakura. I used a white one too to create the dots and chevrons on the other two hats.

For the snow on the snowboys, I've used B00, B000 and B0000 Copic Markers. I wanted the snow to appear cold and crisp and I like the blues for this rather then greys. I've used a lovely Whimsy Slimline Die to create the frame around the image panel. I wanted to keep it quite plain so as not to detract from these cuties. So no other embellishments. The sentiment was taken from two different Whimsy Stamps Clear sets to create the 'Hope Your Day Is Snow Fun' sentiment. My lil' guy was a bit worried about this, he took it to mean 'No Fun' is it rolls off the tongue, but I reassured him it was a play on 'So Fun', never thought of it being interpreted that way!!

I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure, I've been chasing the light to capture them better, as we've had thunder storms the last couple of days, though it was blue skies today! So will share the next one soon. Wishing you a wonderful week and be sure to pop over and check out the rest of the New Release and visit our Facebook Page, where my teamies are sharing their gorgeous creations. I'm super excited to have the lovely Susan Moffatt joining the Divas this term. LOVE her creations, she always knows how to put a twist on things and think outside the box, love that! So we're excited to have her joining the team. We sadly say goodbye to 3 lovely Divas this year. Their creations were stunning and you really should pop over to check them out on this Farewell Post. Deb, Hege and Lisabeth, you will all be missed, loads!

Sending big New Year hugs to you all. I'm so glad to be through 2020 and so looking forward with optimism to what this year holds. Wishing you all well and happy and plenty of fun crafty adventures this year! xoxo

A super card today Wends- love the cute image and your beautiful colouring- Hubby couldn't have bought you a better present than the Copics and refills.
Your little lads interpretation of the 'snow fun' sentiment made me smile- never thought of it that way but always will now!

I love that adorable trio of snowys and beautifully coloured too. They look great on that tall slim card and the colours are fabulous. Wishing you a better year, full of possibilities Wends, ours has started rubbish with lockdown again and 60,000+ new cases today. Still, the vaccine programme is under way so there is hope!! xx

Stunning card!
A wonderful card Wends - love the wee image and you have used it in such a cute way here.
We too have had hot (30 oC yesterday on my deck) and muggy days (not used to the humidity here) but we have not had any thunderstorms, despite the predictions, and not much rain either.
Stay safe
Blessings
