Whimsy Stamps ~ Harvest & Thanksgiving Thoughts

A warm hello to all my lovely crafty pals out there, surviving these maddening days! We're in lockdown again here in New Zealand, which feels surreal! But our lil' family are making the most of it and I've managed to get a whole lot of crafting done, which is awesome. Today I'm sharing a sweet Harvest/Thanksgiving creation I've made with a very sweet Scarecrow image from our Some Odd Girl Collection at Whimsy Stamps. This and two other super cute scarecrows are part of our latest Digital Release at Whimsy Stamps. I love digital crafting! Living in New Zealand, it takes an age for deliveries of real craft supplies to arrive and I'm not a patient bean! But digital is instant, which keeps my crafty mojo on fire and sated. I love Whimsy's digital line, they have a real commitment to making stamps available in both the fabulous rubber and clear stamps range and our digital line and I love them both, but I'm definitely a digital girl at heart. Anyway, you came for the pretties, so on with the show...

I had the idea to fussy cut and paper piece a little plaid shirt for this cutie, would you believe I cut 6 options before I was happy with the result?! I did the little patches for the trousers in the same plaid too. I'm clearly going to have to use the others, so I'm just working out what I'll make with them. A Harvest/Fall banner perhaps?! He really is the sweetest scarecrow and I had great fun creating this card.

I opted for a simple design with some gorgeous Whimsy Stamps paper that was just the right colour palette and perfect with its leaves design. This was from an older Paper Door set and sadly now out of stock. I wanted to include some hessian, because I felt that really gave the rustic look this cute scarecrow needed. I added the little threads that came away from the trimmed edges behind the image to look as if it was part of his stuffing, doesn't work 100%, but hat tips to it. I wanted to balance the black of the crow, so I opted to add a '25' diecut in black cardstock, as Thanksgiving falls on the 25th this year.

The finishing touch was the sweet thankful sentiment. This is a really old Whimsy Stamps sentiment I've had in my stash forever! It's from an older digital set by Raindrop Echo Designs for Whimsy Stamps. I just felt it fit this creation so perfectly. I created a little frame with some fabulous Whimsy dies. I did have to adjust the sides a little as the die was wider and longer than I wanted, but that was easy with a couple of extra passes in my cutting machine. A simple fix when you like the look of a die, but the die you have isn't quite the right fit for the creation.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I hope you like this Harvest/Thanksgiving creation, I sure had fun making it! I'll be back before long with another crafty adventure, because with these lockdown days, I've had some time on my hands and I've really enjoyed doing a little Halloween crafting, so watch this space for that!

I hope you'll come check out what the rest of our crazy talented team of Whimsy designers has been up to this release. Our Whimsy Facebook page is a great place to visit for the latest inspiration from the team and of course, we are on the Whimsy Inspiration Blog every week with a post we hope will inspire and fire up the mojo! Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
