Whimsy Stamps ~ Christmas Elf and Safety!
Hey crafty pals, I'm popping in today to share a Christmas creation, (you know we don't utter that word in my house until December 1st, so this feels very naughty! It's codename 'Sausages' until December 1st!) but getting ready for that special day creeps up on me way too fast every year, so I'm doing my best duck impression right now, serene and under control on the surface, but paddling like mad underneath! Hehe.
I've made a fun slimline card for this creation, using a lovely slimline die from Whimsy Stamps which I adapted slightly to work with the design idea I had for this image. I wanted a central image, but thought it would be fun to have the side tiny squares featuring different elements. I've used some gorgeous plaid paper from Whimsy's utterly fabulous plaid Christmas paper set that was released for Christmas last year. I affectionately think of it as 'my paper pad' as it's no secret amongst the Whimsy team how crazy I am for plaid! LOL. I love it all year around, but it's especially lovely in reds and greens for Christmas, so I couldn't wait to bust it out again for this creation!
I've popped up this central panel with the cute image from Krista Heij-Barber on foam for a bit of dimension. I really like Krista's cute and quirky images, they're fun and so sweet! This wee elf reminded me of a movie I'd watched with the kiddos when they were little which had a title like 'Elf & Safety', hence the blogpost title. I'm such a sentimentalist, but I love it when things remind me of the kids happy childhood days. They grow so fast! This cute stamp set is actually on sale at Whimsy right now, so if you like it, don't wait, it won't be around long at this price during this season.
A cute lil' detail on the smaller squares is this stamp '25 December'. The 25 is plaid! So I had a go at colouring it in an ombre gold sort of fashion for a bit of interest, it's tiny, so the effect is lost a bit, but I know it's there and it makes me happy! Hehe. The smaller stamps in this creation were taken from two different Whimsy Clear Stamp Sets, which paired so nicely to complete this creation. Details of those in the thumbnails below.
I'll be back shortly with another crafty creation and this time, it won't be Christmas, just for a little bit of something different. I'm excited to share it, as I really loved creating with this stamp set and love how it came out, so back soon with that. Hugs and happy crafting until then xoxo
