Whimsy Stamps ~ Sketchy Florals

Hey there crafty friends. Thank you for your sweet comments on my last post, it was a very CAS but sweet card to create and I so enjoyed playing with that beautiful stamp set, I've made another card with that set which I'll share with you today. I went for a messy watercolour effect with this one. I still have no idea what I'm doing with watercolours and if I'm honest, almost binned this half way through, but embracing the 'messy' watercolouring, pushed through and I really love how it came together in the end.

I've used all sorts of techniques that I don't often use in this creation. I've ink splattered, messy watercoloured and spotlight diecut. I really love how this cool die brought the focus to the elements that are popped up from the frame base, whilst still showing the entire colouring. Such a simple technique, but so effective to bring certain elements more to the fore. I used orange as my base colour, more because that was the cardstock I had unpacked that matched the elements I'd used. I think this would also have been lovely on a purple base. I found a handmade paper envelope in my stash I was unpacking, years and years old, which I thought gave a nice organic finish to this design, with its integral leaves and petals in the paper.

What you don't see in these images is how sparkly this card is. The flowers have had lashings of Wink of Stella added and in reality sparkle and shine really nicely. I finished the design with a simple sentiment from a clear stamp set from Whimsy and added that gorgeous friend diecut to bring the orange theme together. I had some orange fun foam in my unpacking, so all the popped up elements were done using this, so even from the sides, you get shots of orange. Fun and quirky, but sure to raise a smile I hope for the recipient.

I'll be back very soon with another crafty adventure, in the meantime, I wish you a wonderful week and lots of happy crafty hours. Hugs xoxo

Wow I love it Wends! Your messy watercolouring is perfect with this lovely floral stamp- great splattering! The diecut panels add so much interest and the 'friend' die is fabuulous. It's always fun to try different techniques , especially when you get a result like this!

See, I have a theory about watercolouring, it's supposed to be loose and organic so that the colours meld together in their own way and make it up as they go along...that sounds like me whenever I am card making actually!! Its a stunning piece Wends and I love the splatters and colour of your sentiment. Great job girl!! xx
