Whimsy Stamps ~ Your Kindness Makes My Heart Blossom

Hey Whimsy friends, I'm here with two fun creations I've made this weekend. We've had family over today to visit, so it's been a lovely but busy day, but I managed to find a moment to get some pics in okay light before it faded completely, so here they are.

I've used two fabulous slimline die sets from Whimsy Stamps to create these cards. For the first card I've used the largest of the layers from the Slimline Tapered Frames Die. You may recall the card I made for Zac's birthday, I ink blended two pages with three blue distress inks and then used one to create the background for that card and cut the frames from the second ink blended page. I only used one of the frames for that card, leaving me with some rather lovely blue frames to use again.

I paired these lovely blue frames with some gorgeous slimline paper from Whimsy Stamps. This new paper set is so incredibly pretty and I found two blue themed papers which worked perfectly for the idea I had in my head. I decided to make another long shaker card, like I did for Zac's card. Before putting the shaker window together, I stamped the lovely sentiment from the Beaucoup Bouquet Sentiments Clear Stamp Set using Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide and then embossing this with clear embossing powder to set and seal it, so the shaker elements wouldn't damage it in anyway.

I have such a fun selection of This Calls For Confetti mixes, and I really wanted some yellow and blue sequins for this creation. I didn't have a mix that was quite right on it's own, as there were extra colours or elements in the mix that wouldn't fit with this paper design so well. So I took the Rainbow Magic sequin mix I had, which included a lot of the colours I wanted and just picked out the purple and orange ones and rainbows, which I will reserve for another creation. What I was left with was a very lovely mix of yellow, blue and clear crystal elements. Perfect for this card!

I've used a gorgeous paper pack for both these designs called Flower Puffs and it may just be my new favourite paper pack from Whimsy, I have so many and I love them all, but this really is so gorgeous! I can tell I'm going to need to reorder this pretty soon. I love the soft 'impressionist' feel to this paper set and the colours are lush in this set. I used two blue themed papers, but they're quite different and I love too that the this set has papers that have the pattern running both vertically and horizontally. So if you want to make a landscape card rather than the portrait style I have here, they've got you covered.

For this second creation, I decided to use the paper 'waste' from the diecutting of Zac's card base. I kept it, thinking it would make a nice 'frame', but had no idea then what to do with it. Then this pretty Flower Puffs Paper Pack arrived in the mail and the ideas started flowing! I love the softness of the flowers in this second creation. They remind me of dandelions and I had the idea to create some floating dandelion clocks with the stencil I had on my desk and a bit of white gel pen to finish them. I let the impressions be quite soft, dabbing off the extra ink before going to the paper, as I didn't want a stark stencilled image, so it would keep the soft impressionist feel going. I drew in a few lines between the stencilled teardrop shapes and a stem, as you'd have on a dandelion clock. The third one I did got covered by the frame, but I was happy with the two that showed and didn't want to overdo the stamping, so just kept it to those three.

The lovely sentiment on this card was again from the Beaucoup Bouquet Sentiment Set. This has such a lovely selection of sentiments. This time I used Prize Ribbon to stamp the sentiment and liked how the clear embossing looked over the previous sentiment so much, that I used it again here. I finished this card off with a tiny butterfly which I coloured to tone with the blues. I added the frame over this pretty paper with foam so it would stand up a little from the base giving some dimension and interest. I was really happy to have kept that off cut as I think it frames this card design so nicely and the fun Slimline Tapered Layers Die Set created a really interesting twist to the standard frame idea.

I hope you liked my two creations using these lovely Whimsy Stamps paper and stamp sets. Fun to have thrown in a little stencilling too! I added a bit of sparkle gel pen to the stencilled dandelion clock and I mounted this one to a straight slimline card base as I kept the sides of the diecut panel straight.

Thanks for popping in today friends, I hope you enjoyed this crafty adventure. I'll be back again soon with another one, until then, have a beautiful week. Hugs xoxo
