Whimsy Stamps ~ Beautiful Shaker

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with a sweet shaker card today using that same beautiful coverplate die that I've used for my previous Magnolia themed creations. If you missed those, you can visit herehere and here. But today, I'll be sharing a twist on those creations, by turning this one into a shaker card. So incredibly easily done and lovely for a little added interest.

I took a white card base and splattered it with some rose gold sheer shimmer spray from imagine and also some White Shimmer Mist from Hero Arts so the background would have a little bit of interest going on behind the beautiful magnolia coverplate from Whimsy.

I've diecut the magnolias from a pretty pink page of the Scrapbook.com Peppermint Paper Pack and then hand-cut a little fishtail tag from a toning cardstock. I used white pigment ink to stamp the sentiment from the Whimsy Everyday Scripted Sentiments Clear Stamp Set. I meant to reach for my white embossing powder to finish, but ended up using the Sparkle Embossing powder. Not quite as clear and bright as I had intended, but that'll teach me to read the label properly! Thought the sparkle is lovely in the right light. I finished the sentiment strip with a wee wrap of pink and white baker's twine from my stash and topped it off with a tiny paper bloom I've had in my stash forever, so it was lovely to use it.

I popped up the magnolia coverplate after backing it with clear acetate on thin foam strips to give the shaker-well dimension. I use foam strips from Scrapbook.com, they're a great width for narrower areas, can be doubled up if necessary or two used side by side for wider areas. I've used these quite some time now and they're my 'go to' option for shaker cards. If you remove the backing as you go, they can be bent easily around corners too, so they're great for round shaker windows or shaped shakers.

Before adding the acetate and magnolia layer to the base, I added the gorgeous shaker elements which are from This Calls For Confetti. If you've not discovered them yet, I encourage you to. Their selection of shaker elements grows by the day and many of the sets are made exclusively for Whimsy Stamps and are utterly divine! One of the sets I used was created to tone with the beautiful Cozy Winter Paper Pack by Whimsy and was a great fit for this shaker card, I cherry picked a few elements from the 'One In A Melon' set too. This is not in store right now, so I'm glad I grabbed it when I did. I love being able to do mix sets like this. The sets are full of lovely combinations of elements, which I don't always want to use together, but being able to get a range of elements by buying a premade mix works so well for me. As always, I've linked the elements I used for this creation in the thumbnails below.

I'm sorry this did not go live on Friday as it was meant to, it was the anniversary of my daddy's passing. 22 years gone by now. I spent the day with my mummy and one of my sisters and saw the rest of the family that live here in New Zealand on the weekend. My gorgeous nephew was home from the States. He's studying at Duke University, so it was wonderful to see him and meet his lovely girlfriend who travelled home with him too. So I didn't have time to complete writing this as I'd intended to. I've left the date as the 15th, as I'd scheduled it, but if you spotted it go live on the 17th, this is why.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing this creation today, I had such fun creating it and I will be back very soon with another crafty adventure, until then, I wish you a wonderful week and if you've not yet seen the latest release at Whimsy, you can click through on the banner above.
