Spellbinders ~ Dancin' St Nick

Hello lovely crafty pals, you might say I'm on a roll with these posts for Spellbinders. This is my third post in three days, I know, most unlike me! But I really want to share these cute creations with you, so I'll try to post one each day for a few days. This adorable die is the Santa Claus version of the earlier Dancin' Deer Die Set I shared as my first post for Spellbinders. This die set is called Dancin' St Nick and how cute is he with his lil' swingin' legs?!

I used a gorgeous plaid Spellbinders embossing folder from my stash to create the texture on this card. I topped this with a panel of vellum cut with a fabulous squared corner die from an older Spellbinders die set from my stash and then mounted the cute St Nick on this. Building him from his swinging legs up. I've used some fun elements in his creation starting with the lovely shimmery red cardstock which I cut most of his elements from. It shows nicely in the shot below, I had to take it at an angle, so the cardstock would catch the light just right.

The black elements I used a fabulous brushed metal black cardstock for, so up close it has really lovely texture. To add even more texture and interest, I also used an old jar of Flowersoft in white, which gives his white trims a lovely fluffy finish. I used the same lovely diecut sentiment set as I did for the previous two posts. There are so many options in this set, it's brilliant and so easy with the lovely shadows which can be cut in any colour to back the sentiment. I used white again on this card, but used black on my Holiday Express card, which if you missed you can click here to see.

I had bought a fun washi tape just the other day from a local craft store, which had script handwriting on white washi, which was so perfect to add to the 'list' that St Nick is holding. His wee parcel is so cute and I cut the base from a lovely confetti paper from the Spellbinders Paper Pad called Christmas Traditions to give that a bit more interest. I used my Copic Markers to colour up his sweet face and give him rosy cheeks and a rosy nose. His beard I cut from textured white cardstock, but didn't add any shading to, as I really like how it looks, as is.

I added this last shot, because I think the light shows all the texture and true colour so nicely, it's kind of a bonus shot. His belt buckle is so shiny in this shot! That gold cardstock I used for both the buckle and the sentiment is so shiny and lovely. You may notice from the above shot, how the body is popped up higher than the legs, to ensure these jiggly legs can swing freely. I explained in my very first post with the sweet Dancin' Deer, the process for this, so do refer back to there if you're curious. Such a cute and fun creation, I know this is going to make one of the little people in our family very happy this Christmas!
