Spellbinders ~ Summer Labels Motif

Hi there crafty friends, I'm back today with my next creation for Spellbinders. I was sent this gorgeous Summer Label Motifs Die Set by Yana Smakula to work with, from the Seasonal Label Motifs Collection by Becca Feeken. I was excited to try this set, because I've loved Spellbinders Label Die Sets for years and have a large number of their original stacked die sets. This set seems like such a great buy to me, because it has the beautiful label layers that will be useful for so many different creations and then it has the sweetest floral elements too, which can also work across lots of different styles and makes, so I think this set is really great value.

The beautiful tiled background I created with a Spellbinders Die from my stash, from the Color Block Mini Shapes Collection. There are several mini shapes available, this one is the Crosses Etched Dies shape. I also really love the Hexagons one and have that on my wish list. Oh to have a bottomless craft fund! I covered the card base with wide double sided adhesive, so it was edge to edge, then carefully laid down my tiles. This left sticky open areas between the tiles, so I added some toning loose glitter, which matched so well I was delighted. It's an older glitter I bought an age ago from Lakeland in England as part of a multi-set. In the right light, this is the sparkliest, prettiest card. So hard to capture in a static photo though.

I made two versions of this card. I absolutely love the tone on tone option I created above, but was worried it looked a little too flat, with such similar colours all the way through, so made a second version where I added some little periwinkle blue flowers through the design to add a contrasting touch of colour and I also added a sentiment to the second design. I really like how that finished the card off, but I remain torn, because I do like both versions. Which do you prefer?

I shaped the flowers with a medium sized ball tool to round out the petals slightly and give the flowers some dimension. The larger flowers I added a bit of glitter around their bases for sparkle and interest. The little blue flowers, I added a tiny pearl in each centre. This was a bit of a labour of love, but I so adore how this little splash of blue altered the palette of this card. The final touch, was to add the sentiment which I diecut in a lovely gold cardstock and cut the shadow mat from white. I think this finished things so nicely on this second version.

So pretty Wendy. You are doing an awesome job as a Spellbinders ambassador.... your cards are stunning.
You have certainly made the most of the die kit you were sent, Wends, with these two gorgeous cards. Can't say that I have a favourite as although they are similar, they are also different enough to both be appealing to me
Blessings
