Whimsy Stamps ~ February, Where Did You Go?!
Hey crafty pals, I know I bang on about time flying too fast and months disappearing, but honestly, the older I get the more I feel like there's some cosmic fast forward button in play! Hehe. This month was a crazy one, with a Tropical Cyclone which devastated a lot of New Zealand and two very serious deluges, which caused Aucklanders (where I live), a lot of strife and some very severe flooding, so I've been a little all over the show this month. We have been fortunate not to have our house or garage flooded, but we were out with rakes and buckets and shovels up to our knees in water, making sure the drains stayed clear enough not to flood the house! So some pretty stressful days there for a bit. Phew, that said, onto my last creation for the year.
I made this 'good luck' card for a friend of one of my kiddos who is starting a new course, as a good luck card for this exciting time of study. They've moved into 'halls' and it's all a new experience, creating their own living space. I loved my 'learning years', not so much high school, but beyond that, I made some lovely friends during that time and so wanted to wish them well and think this set has a really lovely set of sentiments perfect for this.
The fabulous frame is from a FaDoodle Frames Stamp Set which I thought was a fun finish for the design. I also used the coordinating die for that frame set to shape the paper. I used another FaDoodles set to add the lines with the xox between too. I masked off one section to get a centred fit. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to get a nice dark impression for the stamping and popped up the finished panel on foam for a bit of dimension before adding it to the card base. I added some little black flat back pearls to the shamrocks to complete the design.
I found a perfect green paper in my stash from the Whimsy Stamps Autumn Hues Paper Pack, which made a lovely background for the stamping. Rather perfect I thought. I only had top folding portrait cards in my stash, so made this one a side folding rather than top folding card, since it was in landscape format, not my preference normally, as I love a top folding card, but still worked well. I decorated the front and back of the envelope to match too. I love how the bolder filigree shamrock looks on the back of the envelope. I'm keen to make a card featuring that now. It's such a lovely image.
Be sure to stop by the Whimsy Store later today, the New Release will be live very soon! So exciting, I love seeing what comes in. Our designers are amazing and so creative and innovative. I will be back very soon with another crafty adventure, until then, Happy March, which is National Crafting Month, so that's going to be fun! Hugs xoxo
