Whimsy Stamps ~ Happy St Patrick's Day!
Hey crafty friends, I know I've created a few 'luck themed' and 'St Patrick's Day inspired' creations lately, but I have one more I want to share with you today. I wanted to create something with a rainbow and pot of gold and this was what I came up with.
I had the idea to make the rainbow part of the card, rather than layered over it. So I diecut the rainbow into the cardstock and pulled away the loose pieces. Then I took a card panel and added double sided adhesive all over it and added it to the back of the card front. This left a sticky area where the rainbow had been cut away. So I diecut the rainbow in bright rainbow hues and set about piecing them back in place over the double sided tape.
I covered the rainbow with the die I'd used to cut it and then sprayed some iridescent sprays over the card base, giving it a lovely sparkly sheen when the right light catches it. I washed the die well afterwards, but this was a quick and easy fix to having to 'mask' off the rainbow. It doesn't show well in the stills, but it's so shimmery and sparkly in the right light. I also sprayed the little strip of green cardstock that I diecut the grass edge from, with a couple of green mica sprays for a bit of sparkle and interest.
I added a little pot and filled it with gold coins. I cut these from a really pretty gold iridescent cardstock. I've had it in my stash a long time, so I'm not sure where it's from now. It hails from my London days. I picked it up at the Ally Pally Craft Fair back in the day as a bulk lot of mixed specialty papers. It's super shiny and so pretty.
I used a standard size single hole punch to cut out the tiny coins. It was the perfect size for this project and very quick to punch out the pile I needed to fill the pot. I added a little shamrock to the front of the pot, which comes from the same Whimsy die set as the cute pot. I finished off the scene with a sentiment from one of my favourite St Patrick's Day themed stamp sets and gold heat embossed it. It's generic enough to be used as a good luck card, or moving house card or as a traditional St Patrick's Day card too.
Wishing you a very happy St Patrick's Day whether you celebrate or not, it's fun to remember these celebrations. May your day be touched by a bit of Irish Luck, brightened by a song in your heart and warmed by the smiles of the people you love. See you again soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo
