Sweet Stampin' ~ No Designer Paper

Hey crafty friends, I'm joining in with Team Susan for the No Designer Paper Challenge. I made this card for my lil' sis after I got my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit in March as a birthday treat! I really love this kit but cannot usually afford such a treat, so it was really lovely to have it as a birthday present this year.

I really like the Simon Says Stamp card kits and often wish I could get them, but I'm on a limited crafty budget and with super expensive postal rates when you factor in the GST, it's usually out of the question. So it was extra lovely getting this gorgeous kit and I've so enjoyed using it. I need to have another play soon, but this was my first play with the kit and I must say I really love how this came out! I did start with a slightly different idea, which I'll show you below. I initially used white pen accents rather than silver, but felt it didn't add enough detail or interest, so changed it up for the silver accents.

As you can see in the pic above, I initially embossed the small central heart with the embossing glaze in the kit but I didn't do it well and it ended up looking mottled. So once it was cooled and dry, I covered over this with the silver pen which I think looked much better.

What I love most about this gorgeous card kit, is the very Scandinavian inspired feel to it! You know how much I love Scandi-chic designs right?! The stamp set is just so lovely and as I'm writing this I've got ideas running though my head of what I should try next with this lovely stamp kit. I used the inks and stamps included in the set for my first creation, adding some silver accents with a metallic pen to finish the design. I backed it with vellum when finished and mounted it onto a background I created with a stencil that I used to dry emboss the fun triangular themed background using a Vicki Boutin Stencil. I then inked the raised parts of the design with the ink from the kit. This dry embossed background was inspired by the recent Online Card Classes I took focusing on Stencils. I added a simple mat with the lovely grey cardstock from the kit and then added it to a toning card base.

The lovely 'miss you' sentiment is also from Simon Says Stamp from a previous kit release. I cut it from a lovely irridescent cardstock to tone with the holographic confetti I used too. It was a perfect choice for a card for my lil' sis. I am one of seven siblings and Bex is the only one living abroad now. Several of us have at different times. But most of us are home and near enough each other to get together regularly. So we miss her terribly and it's nice to send her a little love now and then through 'parcels from home'. So this card accompanied one such parcel.

Thanks for popping in to visit, I hope you enjoyed seeing this card I created for my baby sis. I hope you'll come join in our 'No Designer Paper' challenge at Sweet Stampin'. I'd love to see what you're inspired to create. Do click through on the linked banner above to check out what my talented teamies got up to for this challenge too. Their makes are always so inspiring! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
