Whimsy Stamps ~ Dreaming of Beach Days

Today is the Winter Solstice, so I find myself dreaming of warmer climes. It's been a wet and dreary day, so a bit of Summer warmth and Vitamin 'Sea' is high on my wishlist right now! Fitting I think to be sharing this sweet creation with you today, where I channelled the warm Summer rays into this beachy keen scene.

I adored the look of little beach sheds lined up on a pier or beach when we lived in England. We have happy memories of such sweet scenes from our travels. So it was fun to colour this up with that in mind. I chose a rainbow themed line up from my Copic Markers, because after all, it is 'pride' month.

I did some very easy and basic masking so I could add the setting sun and warm sunset sky colours. The huts were such boxy shapes, I didn't feel a need to fussy cut them! But rather rip bits of tape to fit the shapes. Good enough and much faster! I've used Mint Tape from Scrapbook.com to do this. Love this stuff, I use it a lot!

After I ink blended the setting sun and sky. I masked off the lower portion to create the sand, easy lazy masking, just using the reverse portion that I'd cut with a slight wave to mask off for the sky and adding left over bits of masking from earlier, to cover as much as I could, as I was going to splatter the sand for texture and detail.

I ink blended the sand with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide and then splattered with Walnut Stain Distress Oxide, Lindy's Crème Brûlée Starburst Spray and some Tea Dye Distress Ink for a bit of variance in sand colour and visual texture. The sky needed a little something to finish the scene, so I added some hand drawn gulls. I wanted to use some diecuts, but they were all too big, so just added some quick and easy flicks with a black pen to depict flying seagulls in the distance.

The days have been grey lately, so it's been hard to capture the shiny details on this card. But I added little doorknobs on each door with a shiny pen and also added silvery details to the porthole windows at the top, so it would look like glass reflecting light. You get a glimpse of this in the above shot angled to try and catch what light there was. I stamped the word Paradise, from the same stamp set as the beach huts in Versafine Clair Pinecone to complete the scene. I finished the card by mounting it onto a lovely textured woodgrain cardstock and then popped this layer up on foam before adding it to the mist coloured cardstock which matched the Pumice Stone hues of the sand really nicely.

Thanks for popping in to visit tonight. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but I must confess, I feel like I'm running out of June already! The days are whizzing by! The rest of our amazing team have created some incredibly cute cards with these fun beach huts. So be sure to go check those out in our Whimsy Stamps Facebook Group. What a lovely warm, sunny beach scene Wends - this is gorgeous. Nice to be reminded that summer is on it's way.... eventually
We actually had some sunshine today, and NO rain - I even got the washing 95% dry outside as there was a breeze too.
Blessings
