Whimsy Stamps ~ Happy As A Clam

Hey crafty friends, I'm bringing you my last creation for the month of June and boy did I have to squeeze some creating in this month, it's been busy! It's the end of term and the kids have both had big things going on. We had a lovely night out last night, watching my youngest performing in Showquest. His troupe took out 3rd place on the night, so we were very happy for him! I've had to squeeze my creating around lots of other family things lately. But I'm excited to share this cutie with you today. I had fun putting together this fun underwater scene and found the perfect sentiment to pair it with from another Whimsy Stamp set which I think pairs perfectly with this fun die set.

I finished the card and then thought, but wait, it needs something more... so popped a wee pearl in place and I think it's rather fun, but now I'm not sure which version I prefer, as I like it without the pearl too. Is it twee or cute? Let me know which you prefer. This fun Clam Shell Die Set from Whimsy, can be used in so many different ways and my teamies have created some incredibly beautiful designs with this set. I had a fabulous paper I wanted to use for the clam, which is a Tonic Craft Perfect cardstock called Snowbound, which has a fun sheen and fractal finish, which I though hinted at a mother of pearl look. The paper I used as the base is covered in shells and I thought would make a fun background for this card. I diecut it with one of my favourite frame dies from Whimsy, the Notched Squares Die Set. This whole paper set has really lovely whimsical and pretty designs perfect for nautical cards and comes from the Whimsy Mermaid pack.

I set the scene for this cute clam shell surrounding them with seaweed, coral and shells cut using the fabulous Build-An-Ocean Die Set from Whimsy. This set is so versatile and brilliant for any underwater and seaside makes. I'd used quite a lot of muted neutral shades, so threw in some seaweed green for a pop of colour. I diecut the cute clam shell and then took my embossing tool and hand embossed the details a little more to give greater dimension and interest to the clam shell. I also grabbed my pink embossing brush and using just what was left on the brush from previous uses, added a little touch of pink to the edges of the shell. I think this will make a fun and cute card for one of my sweet nieces. I finished the design by creating a little vellum banner with an oval die that followed the natural curve of the sentiment, which I heat embossed with copper embossing powder. A playful fun creation perfect for a little one.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I hope you're having a good week, we're heading into the weekend here soon and it's almost time for our July New Release at Whimsy, which I'm bursting to share with you! Until then, have a fabulous creative few days and I will be back to share that very soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo
