Whimsy Stamps ~ Mini Beach Scene
Hey crafty pals, I'm back today with a cute mini beach scene I've created with some of the smaller frames I diecut for a previous make, but didn't end up using. I pulled out the adorable Summer Beach Icons stamps set again for this make. The card size is similar to the smaller one I did yesterday. I really enjoy doing these smaller card makes occasionally. They're fabulous when you have little stamps, as they fit the canvas so well.
I coloured up the sun, sandcastle and bucket and spade from the set for this little card. I used a mix of Copic Markers and Glitter Gel pens. The little spade actually also has a face on it, and it super cute, but I wanted to put the focus on the bucket and so used my more opaque glitter pen to colour over those details.
I fussy cut closely around the bucket and spade and the sandcastle and filled in the white areas I couldn't easily fussy cut with a blue marker to make the white fade more into the scene. I didn't want to attempt fussy cutting every little ray of the sunshine, so decided to just cut a circle around the outer rays and filled in the white spaces with pale yellow. I think it kinda worked for this little design. I added white pen to the wee teeth on the sunshine and blue glitter pen to the glasses for a bit of fun and interest.
The little background scene, I created with the help of a couple of stencils from Whimsy. That little central panel is the middle of the die frames set, so I treat it like a little canvas and stencilled a tiny background scene onto it. The waves were pretty easy, I just used a darker blue than the base colour and then added little white clouds using the smaller clouds on the inside of the fabulous Cloudy Stencil from Whimsy and white pigment ink. I popped up both the frame and that central panel on foam, so they lifted off the surrounding card base, for a fun bit of interest and dimension. I added the little characters, but popped up the sandcastle on foam, so it sat up a bit from the bucket and spade, just for another added bit of interesting detail.
Thank you so much for popping in to visit today. I hope you enjoyed this tiny creation today. It's fun to try a little canvas occasionally. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure until then, I wish you a lovely week and happy creative days. Hugs, Wends xoxo
