Whimsy Stamps ~ Love Peace and Joy this Christmas

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with another Christmas creation. This time a relatively quick one to put together thanks to this fabulous large word die from Whimsy Stamps. I made a card set using this die last Christmas and absolutely loved it, so was determined to use it again this year. Funny thing is, I didn't realise how similar my card design was to this one last year until I was writing up this post and looked back to link it! Though I did make shaker versions last time, this one is quite a quick and simple design in comparison. The only slightly tricky thing about this whole design, was gluing back into place the little centres of the open letters, the P, A and O, plus the two little bits from the ampersand.

I went for a masculine feel this year. I pulled out my Tim Holtz Christmas Washi Tape and ran a couple of strips down the white card base either side of where I planned to put the central panel. I made sure the pattern lined up as best I could, so it looked like a continuous pattern across the card. I used this word die previously for a birthday make for my boss at Whimsy and had this panel left over from that, so decided to use this to create the central panel. I'd cut it from a lovely rose gold iridescent cardstock, which I think looks quite lush paired with the red tartan and the lovely shimmery red cardstock I used to back the diecut. I popped the central panel up onto foam to add a bit of dimension and interest.

I wanted to tie in the tartan a little more, so diecut the little central part of the heart which I first backed onto white cardstock so the tartan showed its true colours, then glued that into the centre of the heart. I didn't want to add anything else to this card, as I wanted it to remain quite a clean and simple design with a more masculine feel to it, as this is destined to be the Christmas card for my brother and his hubby. Truth be told, I'm a huge tartan fan, so this is totally up my street too!

Thanks for popping in to visit today, I hope all is well in your world in the lead up to Christmas, I know these holidays can be stressful for some, so if you find yourself there, I send love and hugs for peaceful days in this busy bustling season, Wends xoxo
