Whimsy Stamps ~ Flamingo Fancy

Hey crafty friends, I saw this cute flamingo in a previous Whimsy Release and just had to have these cuties! There is just a sweetness about this set and I really liked the sentiments they paired with it too. This set is by Whimsy artist Krista Heij-Barber and I think she really nailed it with this one. I love her images, I have many of her sets, but this one really drew me in! 

I've coloured the flamingo with Copic Markers. The pinks I used were R85, R83 and R81. This pink pairs perfectly with Gina K's Bubblegum Envelopes too, which it looks fab with and really makes the flamingo pop! I used a cool comic themed die for this make called Comic Burst A2 Die. I just thought it worked perfectly to frame this cutie. I ink blended a background with Peacock Feathers, Broken China and Salvaged Patina. I splattered a little water over the blend to add some texture and interest and this made a great background panel for this cute flamingo. 

I trimmed a little strip from the bottom of the ink blended panel which I diecut with the Kinetic Straight Waves Die Set from Whimsy to create a little wave to add the flamingos foot behind. The Comic frame is popped up on foam, for a bit of depth and dimension and then the ink blended panel was layered over an A2 precut card front from Simon Says Stamp in the colour Audrey Blue, which was a great match for the ink blended panel, toned really well. I'm not 100% sure it's Audrey Blue as it doesn't specify the cardstock colours included in the pack, but it's a very close match for my Audrey Blue Envelopes from Simon Says Stamp, so pretty sure that's the shade. 

I used a couple of ombré ink pads from Hero Arts that have a combination of inks to stamp out the Hibiscus and foliage from the set. The oranges were done with the Serengeti Sunset and the greens with the Neon Chartreuse to Blue. These gave a pretty outline and interest to the foliage, but were just an outline, so I used my refilled Wink of Stella waterbrush to watercolour the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. The foliage has a lovely sparkle to them thanks to the Wink of Stella recycled water brush. (I talked about this in a previous post, you may recall.) These extra little foliage stamps are awesome for creating those additional Tropical themed elements. I heat embossed a sentiment from the set in Simon Says Stamp Rose Gold Embossing Powder and diecut it with the Frame Labels Die Set from Whimsy. I popped it up on foam and then added the little tropical foliage around it to complete the design. It's such a joy-filled happy card, I love it!

We've just had a new release over at Whimsy and oh my goodness, it's another goodie! Those pandas just melt me! Gotta get my hands on those! Love those sneks too. I will be back very soon with another flamingo adventure, because there were three images in the set and I loved them all, so I've made three cards, but all quite different!
