Whimsy Stamps ~ I'm Still Standing
Hey crafty friends, I'm the other side of a stressful dental appointment today, which sadly didn't go the way I'd hoped. The tooth has cracks, so they can't repair the failed root canal, I'm so sad! But I'm still standing and we'll be a few pennies poorer once we've saved for the dental implant, but onward and upward, tomorrow is another day! I thought it was appropriate to share this card after today's shenanigans! (and yes, you know I'm singing Elton's song!)
If you saw my previous card, you'll spot this cutie is from the same stamp set, but I took a different approach to this design. I have masses of Washi Tape in my stash and really wanted to pull some out for a play, so built the card design around these. I chose a few that I thought might work well together and settled on these three. The gold foil and gold glitter tape add a bit of pizzazz to this fun design. I used a cool stamp set from Whimsy called Distressed Backgrounds and Ink Splats to add some interest to the background. I wanted it to look like our fabulous flamingo had possible walked in a muddy puddle and love the way the finished card looks.
I fussy cut the image after colouring it with Copics, you can check back to the previous post for the Copic colours I used. Not a lot of real estate, so a pretty quick colouring job to be fair. I added the flamingo with foam circles and then finished the design by stamping the fabulous sentiment in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink directly on the card base. Thank goodness for stamping platforms, I used to hold my breath in the days before, hoping it would stamp cleanly. VersaFine Clair is a great ink for sentiments and I rarely do need to stamp twice, but with a bolder font like this, I was taking no chances!
I matted the design with a black cardstock from Gina K Designs. It's my current favourite black cardstock. I managed to get a bigger lot of lovely heavyweight cardstock, which is usually super expensive to get to New Zealand, as cardstock is heavy! I finished this creation by pairing it with a Gina K Designs envelope in Bubblegum Pink. It's the perfect shade for the Copic colours I used. Love that!
I case you missed it, we've just had a new release over at Whimsy and oh my goodness, it's another goodie! Those pandas just melt me! Gotta get my hands on those! Love those snakes too. I will be back very soon with the third of my flamingo creations, so watch for that, until then, hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
(I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier if you like any of the elements I've created with. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

I so hear you about the dentist - I had a nearly three hour appointment this week, preparing four teeth for crowns, and having the temporary ones fitted - there were some unexpected complications along the way!! I had to sit for quite a few minutes before I dared get up, or I may well have had the (speed) wobbles :)
Blessings
