Whimsy Stamps ~ Merry Mail Quick Christmas Cards
Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today with two really lovely Christmas cards I've made with Whimsy Stamps new Quick Card Fronts - Merry Mail. I was so excited to see these sets, because they remind me so much of Sjöbo and the lovely Wintery New Years we spent there with our besties a few years back. The kids were little, so we took them sledging down the snow covered lanes and some locals provided fireworks on New Years eve, so we enjoyed watching the new year in with fireworks over the towering snow laden trees. It was quite magical and forever in our hearts and minds as a magical time. So I've made these two cards to send to my Swedish bestie and her mama for Christmas.
These quick cards come with some lovely sentiment strips, so I used one of them on the full front shaker card. I had a recent set of Quick Strips Dies with lovely extra details like these drippy sections. I think they make great icicles, so used them for cutting the sentiment. I've made the full front shaker just with some waste plastic packaging from some 12 x 12 papers I'd ordered. The fill is the new Ranger Chunky Distress Rock Candy Glitter. I did treat the panel with a little anti-static powder before wrapping and filling the shaker. I wanted the glitter to move freely and not obscure the imagery. This glitter doesn't have the static cling that others do, so chances are it would have been fine anyway, but it was an extra precaution and it moves and shakes down really well. I have a reel showing this in action here.
This pic shows the glitter covering more of the shaker card panel, it shakes right to the top and is such a lovely effect when you tip it down. It's like shaking up a snow-globe! I used the lovely God Jul sentiment on the second card from the Merry Christmas Around the World Clear Stamps. I gold heat embossed it and it didn't take well the first time so I did it again, which made the finish a little thicker than I'd like, but it's still legible, so I'm going with it. Handmade right?! The beautiful texture on the Mix and Match Scallop Rectangle layer, was done with the new Tweed Cover Plate Die. It's such a lovely texture to add a little interest to backgrounds. It will work with pretty much any theme/design. It's very neutral but oh so lovely! I've added the fine Distress Rock Candy Glitter on the shrubs and little Christmas tree on that card too, which shows better in the reel I mentioned earlier. The gorgeous teal-green cardstock I've used for these cards is from Simon Says Stamp and is called Rainforest. It's so lovely and works perfectly with these beautiful Quick Card Fronts.
