Celebrating a Friend - Dream Valley

TAKE TWO: I accidentally posted this, one challenge too early! Still getting the hang of things with this new DT position. My apologies to the rest of the team, for the 'spoiler'. Here we go again...

We are celebrating words as the focal point on our cards for the 80th challenge at Dream Valley. Our 'Say it with Words' challenge, would like to see you pull out all your pretty sentiment stamps and let them have centre stage for this challenge.

I have a gorgeous pal who lives in Edinburgh Scotland. We've had some very special times with her and her family both there and in London. She seems so far away now and yet we manage to keep in pretty good contact thanks to the wonders of modern technology!

I made this card for her birthday. It's a different style from my usual style, but was heavily influenced by a beautiful set of cards that the lovely Jenny Hodges made for a magazine spread a short while ago. I just loved the look and finish she achieved in that and did my best to emulate her beautiful style in this card. I don't know what you think, but I was really happy with it.

I wanted to have another go with my sewing machine, though I did make one silly mistake, can you spot it? I used a fancy stitch on the inside of the doily and well, suffice to say, save the fancy stitches for straight lines! LOL.

I used the lovely paper stack 'Hazy Days' that came with Issue 117 of Papercraft Inspirations magazine which the article with Jenny's cards appears in and I used the matching chipboard sentiment too.

The button I handmade from an old Sizzix button die, which I then coated with Glossy Accents to get that sheen. I tied it with some embroidery thread to finish. The lovely deep border die is a gorgeous Joanna Sheen Signature collection die. Which I think finished this card so perfectly! I wish I could find the original magazine article that Jenny wrote to show you her gorgeous influence on my card, but alas, I cannot hunt it out and not for lack of trying! But I do know the article appeared in issue 117 of Papercraft Inspirations. So if you happen to have it in your magazine rack, pop back and have another look through.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit to my blog today and encourage you to pull out your sentiment stamps and have a go at creating a card for our current Dream Valley Challenge, where your sentiment is the focus. Do go and have a sneaky peak at the gorgeous creations my other team-mates have made too. You're sure to be inspired! See you all again soon. Hugs, Wends x

As You Like It Challenge: Favourite Style of Stitching and Why = Real, although I don't do it often, but I love the texture, look and feel that it gives a card. I also love that I can save on glue when I use real stitching over faux as it holds the layers together incredibly well!
