Southern Girls Challenge ~ Anything Goes

Woohoo, here we go, it's our first post this year for Team Lou of the Southern Girls Challenge and we're stoked because we have two new wonderful teamies joining Team Lou. Welcome Kelly and Vidya! I hope you'll pop on over to the blog and check out their fabulous debut creations and leave them some love.

We are very spoilt to have two fantastic sponsors for this challenge. The East Wind and A Random Fan. Two utterly fantastic sponsors, so that means two very lucky winners. Do come and join us for this fun challenge because our theme couldn't be easier ~ Anything Goes! I chose a really pretty image from The East Wind to work with for this challenge. There's a really eclectic collection of images, so something for everyone. For me, it's always the pretty or enchanting images I'm drawn to and this one was no exception. Aptly named Flower Fairy.

I saw the pretty orchid in her hair and didn't think orchid at all, it reminded me of Hibiscus. So my creation grew from there. I had some pretty 'Hibiscus Pink' cardstock on my desk and I found a matching paper from some really old stash which I think came with a Scrapbook Magazine giveaway. I walked past some pink ribbon which I'd left abandoned on another table from a previous make, which toned in perfectly. So I rolled up a double bow with that. The image I coloured with my Promarkers.

I knew I had a CC Designs sentiment set 'Oh So Beachy' which had 'Aloha' as one of the greetings, so I thought that would finish off this make perfectly! All I needed now where some blooms, so what better than my Memory Box Hibiscus die?! I cut and '3Ded' three blooms and three Memory Box Tropical Leaves. I used my Vanilla Promarker to make the stamen slightly yellow toned without going too dark.

The pretty frame shape is a Go Kreate XXL die called Frilly #9. I've had the little dies in this shape for quite some time, but just recently bought these larger frame dies. I'm so happy with this one, I think it's really pretty. Soft edges and a lovely shape. The final thing to mention is the lace strip across the middle, which I matted onto the same cardstock as the frame and used a Magnolia Doohickey Border Die to create the scalloped shape. This gave a lovely spot to add my double bow.

Well, that's it folks. Thanks for popping in today. I hope you've enjoyed seeing my creation and reading about the process. I hope you'll come and join our first Team Lou challenge of the year at Southern Girls and help us to welcome our new crew with your lovely comments. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. My kiddos are still on Summer Break, but the days are flying past. I'd like to stall time for a little bit, just to capture these special days. But time ticks on as always. I hope you're having an awesome week. Catch ya'll again soon. Hugs, Wends x
