Fab 'n' Funky ~ Happy

Hey there lovelies, I'm back with my Team Funky DT creation for Fab 'n' Funky and this is our first challenge of the year. So we're excited to kick things off with a fun and joyful challenge. We'd like to see creations that contain the word 'Happy'. So it could be anything really, Happy New Year, Happy Birthday, You Make Me Happy, let your imagination run wild. I've gone for 'Wishing You A Day Wrapped In Happiness'. This is a gorgeous Penny Black sentiment and I go to this sentiment set a lot. I really love it. It's called Sprinkles & Smiles. It has loads of really gorgeous sentiments in this set that would suit this theme perfectly!

I created this card for my sister in law's birthday and I just love that pretty soft cornflower blue and copper combo. The blue background was created with nail polish, you might remember the previous card I showed using this technique. This paper was made at the same time and it's amazing how different the finish is with each dip into the water and polish. Smelly but fun technique!

I've embossed the butterfly in copper, squishing it straight onto the versamark ink pad, then liberally covering it with copper coloured embossing powder and setting it with my heat gun. I really like this technique for personalising and coordinating an embellishment. I've used sweet sticky backed pearls from Flourish With A Bling to create the butterflies body. The teeny gems to show the flight path are little crystal ones from MeiFlower. Sad to see yet another crafty store I loved has closed down.

I used a vellum overlay to add the sentiment, so that the pretty swirls were still visible. I think I was a little heavy handed with the versamark ink, as it was a little thicker than I'd have liked when it stamped and it lost some of its definition. I'll be sure not to swamp the stamp with ink next time when stamping on vellum. I added a tiny wee pearl over the 'i' in happiness for a sweet finishing touch. The layers are popped up on foam for dimension and that's about all there's to say about this one.

Hope you like my 'happy' creation and I so look forward to seeing yours. I'd love to see what you're inspired to create. If you need a little inspiration do head over to the challenge and take a peek at what my awesomely talented DT sistah's have been up to. Our lovely blog mama Judith is our hostess this week and responsible for this sweet theme. I'll be back again really soon, until then, hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

Wow, this is a beauty!! You are right about that pretty blue and the copper...so perfect together. Copper is HUGE in the UK at the moment, kitchen accessories, bathroom fittings...it's everywhere. It's nice to look at but far too much polishing for my liking!! xx
