Sweet Stampin' ~ Lots of Layers

Hey there lovelies. How's your year coming along? Mine is already flying past as fast as last year did. Do they hit the fast forward button once you reach a certain age?! We're in the middle of Summer break here in New Zealand, so I'm sneaking in while the kids are occupied to share my Sweet Stampin' DT creation with you. I made this a wee bit ago, when one of my darling Playcentre pals had her third baby. Her boys are super cute and this was made to celebrate the birth of her third lil' man. I love the bright primary colours in this paper pad and thought it was really fun with its sweet message 'please excuse the mess, kids are making memories'. This is such a 'Playcentre' ethos, I thought it was perfect!

I made a top folding large rectangular card. It is the size of a full A5 sheet of paper. I've used a large heart die for the main background cut from a Go Kreate XXL heart die. All the papers have been edged in Tea Dye Distress Ink. The main background pale blue paper I free cute a fish tail for a bit of interest. I layered up a scallop cut square, then the heart, popped up the main image on foam for dimension and then added the bunting and 'photo' strips behind the image, finishing finally with a little tag sentiment. Can you guess the theme of our challenge this week yet?! Yep, it's layers and this card has plenty!

The image is of course a gorgeous Lili of the Valley baby. It's a rubber stamp that I think has now been retired, but there are loads of gorgeous babies in their digital files along with their rubber stamps. Fingers crossed they may bring back this image as a digi stamp. I think he's super cute on his wee rubber ducky toy. I coloured this quite a while ago with my Promarkers and it sat unused until the 'right' moment. I often do that, colour just for fun, and 'bank' them for a later make. I've quite a selection sitting waiting to be made into cards.

Here's a closer peek at that wee sentiment and the cute truck I diecut to fit on the other side of that 'photo strip'. The truck is a memory box die. I think the papers are from My Mind's Eye, but I'll have to fish out the exact paper pad when I'm back. I can't recall right now. But I so loved their bright fresh primary colours. Just so full of life and little man mischief!

I added sweet little wooden hearts to the bunting for a bit of texture and interest and the the wee bunting flags were glued to a thin red satin ribbon before attaching to the card.

Final touch was a little tag with greeting for the happy parents. I added a satin trimmed organza ribbon and the little hearts on the tag were punched out before I added the white sentiment. So there you have it, a 'lots of layers' card for this weeks Sweet Stampin' challenge. I hope you'll come and join the fun with your own, 'lots of layers' creation. I'd love to see what you're inspired to do!

My in-laws are coming to visit in a couple of days, so I won't be popping by your blogs for a few days. But I look forward to catching up again at the end of the week. It was my mummy's birthday on the 8th and we had such a lovely day of celebrating. So have a peek below at the pics of our fun. Huge hugs to you all, Wends xoxo

Oh yes Wends...that fast-forward button is definitely there! The older you get the faster it goes...you've a long way to go yet!!!:))
Fabulous bright and happy card with a great layout, all those bold layers and the cutest little image. The photo strip is a lovely touch...love the sentiment, my granddaughters make lots of memories around here if mess is anything to go by...but it is creative mess! (And they do help clear it up afterwards...usually!)
PS Thanks for your birthday message and please don't feel bad...I rather like my birthdays to slip by un-remarked these days...I've had too many now :))))
Enjoy your family time!
hugs
Chris
