Sweet Stampin' ~ Birthday or Make it a Remake

Hey there lovely crafty pals. Today has not shaped up at all as I planned. I had set aside a chunk of time to craft today, but spent the whole day in bed fighting this bug! Bah, what a waste of a day! Hubby has set me up with my laptop in bed, so I can finish this post and I'm so glad, as I really want to share this one with you! It is Saturday and of course time for a new Sweet Stampin' challenge. This week, we'd like to see something you've created for a Birthday or a Remake. Have you ever made a card you just loved and wanted to do again? Or maybe a card you wanted a 'do-over' as it just wasn't quite right? So it's your choice this week, 'Birthday Theme or Remake'.

I've chosen to share a creation I made for my lovely British pals daughter, who just turned 3. I can't believe she's 3 already! Seems just like yesterday we were screaming up to the hospital for her birth! She's a very precious wee poppet to us and we've been quite involved in her early years. So I wanted this to be a bit special. She's all about the Unicorns right now, so of course that gave me a very easy place to start! I have a gorgeous set of unicorns from a Pink & Main set and they worked a treat for this creation.

I've used a fantastic box card design, which comes from a template by one of my crafty besties. You can find this on Janine's blog here. The delish paper I've used is from a paper set by Michele Roos called Hummingbird and Butterfly Garden. I'm not sure she's designing at present, which is such a shame as her papers are beautiful! I have the physical paper set and so wish I'd purchased a digital copy! They're some of my absolute favourite papers. Happily, I have the page with the hummingbird on it in digital format from a freebie Michele gave away. I just need to match that up with some background papers. So you can imagine how hard it was to cut into these beautiful papers knowing I was using some of them up! I so love digital papers for this reason.

I used a mix of sentiments for this creation. The ones on the two sides of the box card are from Penny Black sets and I used another one on the back. Below is a line up of the three flaps. You can click on these to pop them up to a bigger size for a closer look.

Below is the box folded closed for easy mailing. The first pic shows the front flaps down and folded to the right. The central pic shows the flaps up. I couldn't resist adding an extra wee sentiment under the flap for a cute extra touch. The final one is the flaps down and folded to the left. One of the elements sticks out this way, so for posting it needs folding to the right.

I decorated the back simply to allow for somewhere to write the message. A plainer paper with a sweet birthday greeting. This one is a Penny Black greeting too. I added a closeup of the sentiment as it's a very sweet one.

Finally a pic of those cute unicorns. Coloured with my Copics to tone in with the pretty paper. It's not showing up in the pics, but there is Wink of Stella on their horns and glitter on the stars, so in reality it's quite a sparkly pretty lil' girls birthday creation.

Thanks for stopping in today. I'm sorry this post is so photo heavy, it's just very difficult to show without all the angles! If you've never tried a box card design before. Check out the tutorial that I've linked above on Janine's blog. It's so easy and so effective I think.

I'll be back with another crafty adventure very soon. Until then, have an awesome weekend. Be sure to pop into the Sweet Stampin' challenge to see what my talented teamies have been up to and come and join us with your own Birthday or Remake creation. We'd love to see what you do. Hugs, Wends xoxo
