Whimsy Wednesday ~ These Boots Were Made For Walking

Hey there lovelies, I'm back again, this time with my regular Whimsy Wednesday post. I'm more than a little excited to share this with you, because this was a joyful experiment for me, to see if I could in any way pull off the 'shine' of patent leather DM's! Don't compare it to Jennifer Dove's exquisite ink work, you'll see all my flaws! But for me, this is AMAZING! I'm super pleased with how well it came together and right now, I'm a little bit in love with my Copic Markers!

I love DM's always have, I used to have a cherry red pair when I was younger. I still keep and eye out to see if I can find a Union Jack pair too! I'd love that. But for the card I was creating, I needed masculine DM's, as this was for my Godson/nephew's birthday. 17!! I just can't believe it, takes my breath away as I still remember so well his baby days!! So I wanted a cool vibe to the card and I think I nailed it. CAS, because, for a boy, you know?! So no fru-fru extras. But I think the CAS design is so perfect for this image. 

I used the most delish paper designed by Whimsy's own Denise Lynn, which is dark and rich and truly gorgeous. I think it sets off the image so well. I decided to set up the sentiment in exactly the same way I did the card design, so it has a black mat and then the trim of that delish deep blue paper. I've popped up the entire image panel on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

This image is from a previous release, but still quite recent, it's from the DoveArt Designs range at Whimsy Stamps and the realism in these designs is so lovely to work with and quite a departure from what I'm usually drawn to. I love cute, enchanting, whimsical images, but I have to tell you, there's definitely a place in my heart and in my stamp collection for these divine images. As You Like It: Clean & Simple or Fussy & Fancy ~ Aww, not sure I can choose!! I love both, but I must say, when I pull off a CAS design that just works, I really love that, as I feel the focus is more on the colouring, so if I nail it, I'm always well chuffed. This is a good example of that, so I'm going with CAS.
