Whimsy Wednesday ~ The Gift of Christmas

Hey pals, I'm here to share a fabulous New Release image from Whimsy Stamps with you. They have recently taken on the CC Designs range of Rustic Sugar digital images and I for one am absolutely delighted as I LOVE these sweet images. I've chosen with this first image, to create a Christmas Gift Bag and I love the way it came together. So may just make a few more!

The bag is quite a large size, 28cm x 21cm and was a plain red base with kraft handles. It's not 'new' as I'm all about recycling! It was a gift bag one of the kiddies got last year, so I kept it, especially as it was plain and would make such a great base! So I get extra satisfaction from being able to pretty up and reuse a gift bag.

This sweet image is one of my favourites from this newly released range. I think this wee elf is just so sweet! I kept the colours very simple focusing on the traditional Christmas colours of red, green and white with a touch of sparkly silver too. I am deeply honoured to have been asked to colour this range of images for the Whimsy Stamps promo pages. So you may note the image on this creation bears a striking resemblance to the promo page at the end of the post. Squeeee, so chuffed.

Here's a closer peek at the elements. I've added a paper with stripey Christmas colours to create the main background element and then layered over top a pretty red paper with a soft sheen to it and a square diecut from soft green card.

I decided to use a doily behind the image, but the one I wanted to use was a little narrow and didn't show around all the edges, so I decided to get crafty! I worked out what I wanted to show around the image and then cut the doily to make it work!

I then lined up the elements, so that the sections going along the sides were evenly placed and then added the two top peeks. I stuck them down with some glue runner and some sellotape and then adhered them to the bag base with strong double sided tape.

To finish off this design I used a lovely diecut Poinsettia, which was cut with a fabulous die set from Whimsy Stamps. I've used a pretty paper with a lovely satin sheen to it and in reality it's absolutely lush. I finished the Poinsettia with the little diecut centre and added a gold flatback pearl in the centre.

Click through to the store on the banner above to see the latest Digital New Release. You can also click 'here' to see the Rubber and Dies Release. There really is the most fabulous selection of images this month and some wonderful new ranges. So be sure to visit both sections to see it all. Thanks for stopping in to visit today, I love it when you do! Be sure to let me know what you think of the new release and I'll be back very soon with another crafty adventure! Hugs and happy crafting xoxo

What a sweet image and so beautifully coloured Wends - love how you have recycled the bag ... will you be able to use it now?
Sorry I have been MIA but life has been crazy busy, including a trip to Aus and now a conference in Palmerston North - today is a free evening...

What a fantastic decorated bag you have made that fits in well with the Colour Crazy Challenge this week. I love to see other people recycling things like I do and using doilies/frames for different shapes to what they were originally designed for. Thank you for entering and best wishes in the draw. Fantastic gift bag! I just had to pop over and have a closer look! I love the idea of splitting the die cut shape to make it a bit bigger behind the image too.
