Southern Girls ~ Ribbon, Lace or Washi Tape
Hey there my lovely blog pals. This weeks go live for Southern Girls snuck up on my rather too fast! I feel awful as I just didn't have time to pull something together last minute. But here, a day late, is my DT creation for our latest challenge. We want to see your creations that feature Ribbon, Lace or Washi tape this week, or a mix if you're keen! I've gone for a washi tape creation. I own lots of washi tape, but very rarely use it and I so want to use it more, because I really LOVE it! But I'm not a confident washi tape user, so it gets used to tape down my dies and hold things in place when I'm watercolouring, but not a lot on actual cards. So I decided to remedy that this week. I had grand ideas of using three different washi tapes and ended up using only one in very small bits, but it's a start right?!
One of my eldest nieces is heading overseas soon and I decided it would be lovely to send her a wee 'travel journal' to keep her photos and memorabilia in. Our lovely sponsor The Paper Shelter, gave us this image to use this week and I really love it! I wanted to use a really pretty apricot map paper for this creation, so I coloured her dress in hues that would work with it. I used a gorgeous gold washi tape to accent the design and I also used a really fun 'smear' behind the image for a bit of extra interest. The smear was from a lovely set by Mye De Leon called Brave.
I coloured the image with my Copic Markers before fussy cutting and adding over the smear background. I really am so happy with this creation. It had to be thrown together very quickly with my running so late, but I just love how it looks from the soft watercolour wash map paper to the smear and cute image, I still not convinced I know what to do with washi tape! But I gave it a go!!
I hope you'll come and join us for our challenge this fortnight. Better still, use some washi, so I can see how it's done! LOL. Huge hugs to you all and I'll be back really soon with the next crafty adventure, Wends xoxo
