Whimsy Wednesday ~ Mr Gullible
Hey there lovely crafty friends. I hope you're enjoying some sunshine if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. We are in the middle of our Winter here in New Zealand, so crafting with these sweet Summer images has me pining for the fjords sunshine! To be fair, we've had an incredibly mild Winter so far. So I can't really complain. But it did make me think of lovely sunny days while I was colouring up this cutie.
This image is Mr Gullible, from a set of three fun and fabulous nautical themed summer images called Ahoy There. Whimsy Stamps wonderfully talented artist Crissy Armstrong is the talent behind this fun image. I just love her sweet and whimsical images. I've used Copic Markers to colour this cutie adding a clear blue sky behind.
I've used Maja Design papers for this creation and as they are some of my favourite papers, I never want to cover much of them, so I've kept the design very simple. I used the base of the paper, which has this fun nautical location strip, I backed it with white cardstock that I wrapped in red and white striped washi tape for a bit of colour and interest.
I've used an older Whimsy Stamps Clear Stamp set called Ocean Journeys Sentiments for the lovely nautical sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with Versamark Black Onyx ink and then clear embossed it on vellum. I used the same Notched Squares die I cut the base layers with to create the notched corner in the vellum. I've adhered the vellum strip by adding the glue behind the bold letters and one tiny blob in the very pointy corner so that it didn't flap around. I find Ranger Multi Medium Matte brilliant for this, as it's a matte finish so doesn't show obviously through the vellum if some is in a visible place.
We have such a fabulous line up of images this month. It really is a brilliant digital release, so many new images, that the DT could only show case a few! There are some of my favourite Christmas images in this digital release, which I created some cards with back at Christmas time when they were in our rubber collection. You can see those posts here and here. Do stop by the store to check out what's on offer. It's so fabulous to have these images now in the digital vault, I find it such an easy and versatile medium to design with. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but kiddos are on Winter break this week, so I'll popping in less to visit over this time. Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
