Southern Girls ~ Sweet Wishes

Hey there crafty pals. How is your week going. Hope you're a bit sheltered from all the craziness out there at the moment. Folks seem to be getting very scared by it all. We have such a global community here in New Zealand, we're not exempt from the infection despite being very far away from the rest of the world. The downside of our world being so easy to traverse now. Our kiddies are still at school, but we get daily updates from both schools as things unfold. I had to fly home all the consultants today who were in other parts of New Zealand for my work, so it will be interesting to see how the next few days unfold. But onto happy things, which take our minds off all this global scariness. It's time for a new challenge at Southern Girls and we have three wonderful sponsors for this challenge and some wonderful prizes, so come and join our 'Anything Goes' fun!

I've used an image called Gina Cupcake from one of our sponsors MoonFlower DigiStamps. I've coloured her with Copic Markers and I had several attempts to create the icing on her cupcake, finally the Nuvo drops I tried worked to the effect I wanted. I had hoped to add 'sprinkles' on top and had drawn the image this way initially, but it didn't look right, so then I added a Nuvo Glow Drops in Blue Crush colour, but it was too sheer and looked messy with the colouring under showing through. So, I finally layered over  Nuvo Crystal Drops in Caribbean Ocean which resulted in an opaque finish that worked really well. The additional layers created quite a nice dimension too, which was an added bonus.

I wanted to crop the image to fit in the frame I wished to use, but it needed a little extra at the bottom after fussy cutting the base of the skirt. So I trimmed a little extra off the top of the image and added it under the skirt to finish the design. This is one of those, 'don't look too closely' kinda deals. But I'm happy with how it all came together in the end.

I hope you'll come and join our fun this fortnight at Southern Girls. You're in for a treat if you're one of our lucky winners and the 'Anything Goes' theme gives you lots of scope for creative expression. Remember we love ALL papercrafts, layouts, journals, pocket pages, not just cards! So show us what papercraft you enjoy. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, stay healthy and safe and have some crafty fun to take your mind off things! Hugs, Wends xoxo

What a gorgeous image Wends, and nicely coloured. Loving how you have mounted her too. It's certainly uneasy times at the moment... we have had a case of Covid 19 herein our small town... and there is very little in the way of dry goods left in our supermarkets - one checkout operator described it as Christmas and Easter combined and on steroids!
Stay safe
Blessings
