Whimsy Stamps ~ Halloween Shadow Box

Hey there crafty friends, I'm here with a fun Halloween Shadow Box today. It's about as mixed media as I get! Hehe. I always admire the amazing creations that crafters out there create in a more mixed media style, so I thought I'd try my hand at a little Halloween Shadow Box. This was made super easy, because I had a little wooden box that some woodchip embellishments had arrived in. I had kept this box with just this sort of idea in mind. I coloured it black and then got to creating my shadow box.

I created four little scenes in this split shadow box, two using some paper I inked in orange and two with scenes created using some of Whimsy Stamps fantastic Halloween papers.

For the orange backed scenes, I've used the cutest Halloween Kitty stamp set from Whimsy Stamps called Got Peepers. It has the cutest cats and fun Halloween sentiments and even a spooky jack-o-lantern. It's one of my favourite Halloween clear stamp sets. I added 31 to one of the scenes, with an older Whimsy Stamps number set cut from black glitter cardstock. The cute Boo was diecut from the same glittery cardstock for the other scene. I stamped the wee spider from the Got Peepers stamp set and drew in a thread to look like he was swinging from the B. I snuck an extra bat in for a added interest and drew a little mound under the cat to ground him. It was otherwise some simple stamping and a few diecuts.

The other two scenes have wonderful paper backgrounds from the Whimsy Stamps Halloween Paper Pack called Haunted. Honestly, with these amazing papers, there's very little else needed to complete a scene! For the top scene, I added a couple of extra diecut bats to give the scene a bit more depth and the word Chills, cut from a paper with a bit of sheen to it, which I thought would work well with the moon. It was off white, but I coloured it with one of my copic markers to be a buttery sort of yellow.

For the final scene of this shadow box, I used a fun mix of diecut elements, the tombstones are from the Dracula's Coffin Dieset, the Ghosts are cut from vellum using the Boo Die Set and the little cloud, which I coloured black but gave a silver lining, was from the Slimline Clouds Die Set. These sets are great and have elements that can be used in so many different creations. My kids thought the hand inked epitaph BRB was hilarious. It just needed a little something there to finish it and our house is full of pranksters, so they all got the joke! I must confess, I first saw this idea on the Epitaph set from Whimsy Stamps, which is totally on my wishlist, they're so funny!
