Spellbinders ~ Camper Life ~ Kiwi Christmas

Hey there crafty friends, I'm back with another creation featuring the lovely stash that Yana Smakula sent me from Spellbinders to work with. I really like this cute campervan die set, it so made me think of Kiwi Christmases so I really wanted to combine two ideas. It is of course Summer here in New Zealand at Christmas time and it's no strange thing to see strings of caravans and campers on the open road heading for their holiday venues around Christmas. So I've decorated this cute campervan with a Christmas wreath, both on the door, but also turned the doughnut shaped die set into a Christmas wreath to adorn the top of the campervan too.

I've used a gorgeous embossing folder to create the simple white background. This is from the recent Holiday 3D Embossing Folder Release from Spellbinders. This design is called Dimensional Diamonds. I used it first in this creation and then again here. I love the versatility of this design, it will suit so many different themes. I wanted a simple but textured background for this campervan design and the Dimensional Diamonds Embossing Folder was so perfect for this. The size of these folders is quite large, 5.5 x 8.5 inches. So easily covers an A2 card, but can also make a nice feature on a 6x6 card or even a 5x7 size card, in fact it's large enough to use for a standard US slimline card too! So lots of options there.

The wreath, as I mentioned earlier, I created by taking the doughnut base from the add on set for the Camper Life die set and using that to create my floral wreath. I opted for larger flowers from the Spring Label Motifs die set for this wreath, as I wanted to fill it completely, adding a few smaller ones here and there from the Summer Label Motifs die set. I used a lovely iridescent silver cardstock for the leaves and accents on the campervan. I also added some cute silver bells to the wreath bow for an extra Christmassy finish. I used a mix of pink sequins and the lovely opal gems to finish the flower centres. For the littler wreath on the door, I used the same pink sequins and opal gems. The little awning on the campervan, left crossbar shapes where the tiny awning pieces were cut, which lent itself nicely to use on the door window for a little added embellishment. I've used vellum on the windows to create a bit of a sheer effect, without it being completely see-through.

I enjoyed putting together this campervan so much, it was a really fun and quite mesmerising process. There are a few tiny pieces which it really helps to have some good thin nose tweezers to assist with gluing down those smaller pieces. I love how much thought went into the design and the attention to detail, from the wee tail light at the back to the tether bar at the front. This really is a fun die set.

It's always difficult for me to get my head around the fact that parts of the world celebrate Christmas during the summer, while we're thinking of snow and robins it's camper vans, sunshine and the beach for you :)) Your card is fabulous, such pretty colours and those die cuts are lovely- great idea to use the donut base for your wreath.
