Whimsy Stamps ~ Nacho Average Dad
Hey friends, I'm having trouble segueing into June! My crafty mojo took a back seat to some crafty admin stuff I needed to sort and it's taken me a few days to get my June crafty pants on! So, I'm here with two cute creations today! I've used the same stamp set for these cards and I must say, I wanted this set the moment it was released. These images are too cute and usually, I'm not up for punny sentiments (they kinda drive me crazy!) but I've gotta say, these actually work and are so fun for that dadda in your life (or your kiddos lives, jus' sayin'!) that I couldn't resist!
One of my greatest joys in life, has been watching my hubby as a father. He's an awesome papa and definitely 'not your average dad'! He's all kinds of awesome and this adorable sentiment and image, for my taco lovin' hubby, is perfect. So I had to create this and tuck it away for September when our Father's Day is celebrated here in New Zealand. For this first card, I used a cool Aztec/Mexican inspired patterned paper from the Whimsy set called Festive Desert and created a pelmet style white card flap with some Envelope Edger Dies from Whimsy for both cards, but used two different styles from the set. One with a central peak, the second with a side peak. I love this style of card. CAS and striking. I did a little ink blending behind each image, just for a splash of colour.
For my second card, I used the sweet pizza image from the set and paired it with another very cute punny sentiment from the set. I don't like it when punny sentiments don't make sense. I do like it when they're clever and actually work, which this set absolutely nails! So yep, this time, I'm embracing the puns! I paired this image with a fun 'Italian restaurant tablecloth' type pattern. It's a background stamp from Whimsy called Checkerboard Doodles. I think it has such a fun sketchy finish and was a perfect look for this card. I used Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide to stamp the background. Both the cute images were coloured with my Copic Markers and it took me a while to find the right 'greens' for the guacamole, but I was happy with the combo in the end. I used G94, G14, G12, G21 and YG03. I finished each card with a toning A2 envelope, that are from a DCWV envelope set.
Thanks for popping in to visit today, love it when you do! We've had our first release at Whimsy for June and the second one is coming tomorrow. I must say there are some gorgeous elements this month. I'm loving the island holiday vibes! I so want those Hibiscus Flower dies! We have Hibiscus flowers all over Auckland as we're sub-tropical here, so I get to enjoy these beautiful flowers a lot of the year! I've linked the store above for easy access. I use affiliate links where I can, as it helps the companies I design for, track the effectiveness of my contributions.
