Sweet Stampin' ~ Birthday Girls

Hey crafty friends, well it seems an appropriate theme for our Sweet Stampin' challenge as today is actually my birthday! It's also our lovely Susan's birthday in a few days too! She is my crafty bestie and 'wingman', here at Sweet Stampin', without her, not a whole lot would get done! She rescues me constantly, including today, when I got so caught up with my birthday celebrations, I forgot to put the main challenge live! So I'm forever grateful to my amazing crafty friend.

For my card today, I'm sharing one I made for my Mum. I gave this to her a couple of birthdays ago, but for some reason forgot to share it at the time, so tied up with my own birthday this year, it seemed a good choice to share. I used some beautiful either Maja or Riddersholm Design paper for the base layer of the card. I'm embarrassed to say, I don't know which it is, I have loose 12 x 12 of both and on this occasion, I didn't pay good attention to which I'd used. If you've followed me a while, you'll know, my mama's favourite colour is purple, so this is not an unusual choice for her cards and this really is gorgeous shabby chic paper.

I coloured up a very beautiful Magnolia image from Power Poppy with Copic Markers adding a little blue around the image to set the scene of a Summery blue sky. I also added some sparkle here and there on the flower petals. We used to have a Magnolia in the garden of the house Mum and Dad had in Paremata. I was married from that house, so it has happy memories for me. Dad used to love that beautiful big Magnolia tree and I knew it would make Mum remember those happy days.

The lovely heartfelt sentiment is from the Penny Black Smitten Sentiment Set. I really love their sentiment sets, they often have really pretty fonts and usually very heartfelt lovely sentiments. I stamped this one with an acrylic block, before my MISTI days and it's clear to see it could have done with a second stamping, but oh well, that's how we did things 'back in the day'! Hehe. It really is lovely to have the MISTI now and I use it for pretty much every stamping now. The pretty edges on this card were diecut with a really old Tattered Lace Die Set. I still reach for this for a pretty finish on special cards.

I hope you'll come play along with us for our 'Birthday Girls' challenge, we look forward to seeing what your take on this will be. I will be back again soon with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime wish you a wonderful Easter weekend. Hugs, Wends xoxo

(I've added these thumbnails to make your shopping easier if you like any of the elements I've created with. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission which costs you no extra whatsoever, but more importantly helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. It helps these companies see where their marketing efforts are most effective. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
