Whimsy Stamps ~ Candy Corn Cuteness

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with the second of my Halloween makes with the fun New Release at Whimsy Stamps. This time, I'm sharing a super cute little shaped card using their new Primitive Candy Corn Die Set. This makes the sweetest shaped cards or can be used as an element on larger cards. I had great fun playing with this set and already have ideas for follow up makes. 

Love it or hate it, candy corn means Halloween! I personally LOVE it, but has to be the Brachs Candy Corn and best had with pretzels or peanuts and cashews, yum! So I was delighted to see this latest addition to the Whimsy Stamps Halloween line! Better still, it has an outline die you can use to create a little card. So this is a side opening Candy Corn shaped card! I just butted it up against the paper fold when I was diecutting the base and it made an easy and super cute shaped card base. 

The cute layers have a quirky line to them, with additional elements you can add to give this a primitive shabby chic finish. The little stitches and patches are so much fun! I went for the traditional candy corn colours for my first make and added some of the little characters from the Handmade Monsters Stamp Set from Whimsy and the Mummy from the Roaming Monsters Die Set, popped up on foam for a bit of dimension and interest. I stamped Frank and Vlad on the base with VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink. My stamp platform helped me get a good impression, but I did take my memento pen and add some black into the seams that Frank's head crossed so they weren't so prominent. I embraced that though, as Frank has a few stitches here and there, so they didn't seem out of place! 

I wanted it to look like this crew were trick or treating and after the 'candy', so I used the Fun With Words Die Sets from Whimsy to create the 'candy!' word. These sets are awesome for making new words, not just the fun ones in the actual sets. I continued the theme inside the card with a sentiment from the Hiss Off Clear Stamp Set. How would you decorate this Candy Corn cutie?! I'm thinking a pink version next!
