Gorgeous Girl

I made this card for my baby sister. She's moved to a new country is newly married and has so much shift and change going on, I wanted to convey my love and admiration for her with this sweet card. I have to say I adore this Belle & Becki image from Krista Smith of Saturated Canary. It just sooooo makes me think of my baby sis. So was a great choice for a card for her. I'm so happy with the colours in this card. It feels so bright and 'Spring-like' echoing this beauty that is unfolding outside right now as Spring kicks into full gear. The lovely floral paper came as part of a paper pack freebie from a magazine, which I sadly don't have the details for. If anyone knows it's origin, I'll happily add the details. The lush flowers are of course Wild Orchid Crafts. Love that store so much, could and do spend a fortune there! The spray of flowers didn't look quite right when I had glued it down, so I added a few leaves to bring balance, which worked okay, but I think my mistake was not to follow the rounded edge of the oval closely enough. I'll try to remember this for next time. The leaves were cut with a small Birch leaf punch from Woodware. The pink faux lace ribbon is a recent gift with the Crafts Beautiful magazine and is really interesting. It's self adhesive, slightly shiny plastic. I had no idea where I'd use it, but it was perfect for this make, so tada! I will definitely have another go with it soon. I had to 'bling' this card up, because my baby sis is a 'bling' kinda girl. So I added a pearl to her handbag and some more along the top righthand seamline on the papers. I am using again the lovely heart decorative corner from Dreamees. This time in a larger size, as that corner was otherwise quite bare. I glittered it first with my favourite loose glitter 'Glitter Magic' which I think just finishes it off perfectly with just the right amount of 'bling'. Let's just hope my lil' sis thinks it's enough. :)

I've entered this card into the Saturated Canary Challenge #17 - May Flowers. This card although made in April for my sis, is just so perfect for this challenge with it's 'Spring Flowers' and lovely bright colours and has not been entered previously into any challenge. Rather new to this all, it's only the third challenge I've ever entered, so still finding my way. It's unlikely I'll be considered for the competition, but I just wanted to put it out there for folks to enjoy my take on Krista's lovely Belle image. Thanks for looking :)
