Ladybugs and Ruby Slippers

I have a very dear friend back in London, whose little girl just turned 7. She's about 18 months younger than my Georgie, and they have a sweet friendship. I love this age, it's full of wonder and discovery and this beautiful stamp from A Day For Daisies, I felt just captures the innocence and curiosity of youth so beautifully. My friends daughter is a very bright little cookie and I know I could have gone for an image that captured that, or for a 'grown up' girl image, which I'm sure she would have loved too. But I want my little girl not to grow up too fast, to retain the innocence of youth as long as possible, and I know my friend feels this way too about her babes, so this image for me, wraps this up in a sweet lil' bow. I find it utterly enchanting.

Here's a closeup of the sweet image, ruby slippers and all!

I miss my friend and her kiddos dearly. We spent a lot of time together, especially in recent years, and it feels awful to miss this birthday. But our thoughts and hearts were with this gorgeous girl on this very special day.

Now for the card blurb, for those that are interested. The image as I said is from 'A Day For Daisies' and their images are full of enchanting, magical, loveliness, so do check them out. The image was coloured of course with my Promarkers and cut using Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles. I found a wonderful sentiment the other day when visiting a fellow crafter's blog, that I felt was a perfect fit for this card, rather than going for the obvious 'Happy Birthday' sentiment. Thank you Paula for your generosity in sharing this lovely stamp.

I added Glossy Accents to the lil' ladybugs to give them a bit of shine and dimension and the 'Ruby slippers; were made with Stickles - Christmas Red. I wrapped a lovely 'Nu Rust' seam binding ribbon from Wild Orchid Crafts around the card and added some organza ribbon with built in flowers, fabulous! I cut the edge of the green mat with Spellbinders Edgeabilities 'Classic Edges 2' and added a single flat back moss coloured pearl from MeiFlower to each corner. The background  paper is the delicious 'First Edition' papers from their 'Summer Breeze' paper pad. I love these papers, they're so substantial and half the pad has embossed and textured pages, they're really lovely to work with. This card almost falls into the CAS umbrella, there's not too much going on, but I really wanted to let the lovely image shine and I think it really does. I'm pretty sure I know a little girlie who will be very happy to have this.

Thanks for popping into visit today. Love it when you do! Come again soon and if you have your own crafty blog, leave me a message and I'll be sure to come visit you in return. Have an awesome day, Wends xxx
