Lead The Way

Wow, what a whirlwind weekend I've had. We've had our first visitors from the UK since we arrived back in New Zealand, which was so utterly fabulous and the best kind of soul food! Then we've had my in-laws from down South arrive a couple of days into their visit for the weekend too, so it's been all go here. I've not been able to get to the PC for days or to my craft desk, so I'm hankering after a little crafty time today. I've been hunting through some old pics and found a post that I needed to update, so I've done that now and anyone that's interested can see the update here: http://craftykiwimama.blogspot.co.nz/2012/07/gorgeous-girl.html

But for today, I thought I'd share the card I gave to my lovely British friend who was visiting just after her birthday. She's been jet-setting all over the world with her family ours being the stop right in the middle of it all, so I tried to go with a travelling theme. I had a lovely stamp I picked up from Funky Kits which reminded me of her as she's one of those super lucky tall elegant beauties, so the pic was perfect for her! I had kept some paper from one of my Ikea visits off a set of pictures I'd bought there, and the little thumbnail pics were the perfect compliment to this image to bring in the travelling theme. I love to recycle, especially in my craft work, so I've been hanging onto these for the right moment and this was it. Big Ben - London, The Eiffel Tower - Paris and the Flatiron Building - New York City, set the jet-set theme.

I die cut some Eiffel Towers, added a sentiment shaped from the same set as I used for the image - Spellbinders Label 17 - and some lovely blooms which I edged with tea dye distress ink as they were plain white to start with. I left the lovely cream gardenia blooms from Wild Orchid Crafts plain however so as not to overdo it. I love the fabric bloom with the metal button centre, this comes from a set I thought was a Kaisercraft or Prima set, but can't find the link. I'll update when I do. The lovely velvet ribbon is from stash.

The steel blue gingham paper is from some loose pages I picked up from Anna Marie Designs at one of the Ally Pally craft fairs I attended and it worked perfectly for this card.

Here's a closer look at the lovely image from the fabulous Sugar Nellie range of Scottish stamp company Funky Kits called Lead The Way. I gave her caramel coloured hair like my lovely pal has. As always, I coloured the image with my Promarkers. Love those lil' sticks of ink! :)

Hi Wendy,
Gorgeous card; love the addition of the small tickets, and the image is so perfect for the theme. She does indeed look like a fancy jetset girl walking the streets of Paris with her puppy! :-)
Thanks for your comment on the LLC blog, I'm not sure if you've seen that I responded to your comment when you entered the blog candy; yes, I do ship to New Zealand as well! Hope you're enjoying being back there; we've had a miserable Summer so far here in the UK... :-(

Take care,
Sandy xx
