Fab 'n' Funky - Tag You're It!

It's time for a new challenge over on the Fab 'n' Funky blog and the lovely Pat is our hostess today. She's chosen the theme 'Tags' for this challenge. So as I never seem to have enough Christmas tags, I thought I'd make one of those, especially as I've been wanting this cute Dr Digi's image for a while and as luck would have it, they are our sponsor for this challenge. This fun Santa image is called 'Naughty or Nice'.

It's my little boy's 5th birthday tomorrow and I've been caught up with school visits, buying his new uniform, preparing for his birthday party and winding up my commitments to Playcentre. So it's been a huge couple of weeks and this tag unfortunately got missed on the 'To Do List'. Ironic when the Santa in the image is holding a list! But I've whipped one up double quick time tonight. I was organised with my colouring as I did this the same night as I painted the Lacy Sunshine card that I blogged on Tuesday. So it was a matter of choosing some cardstock and trimmings. I chose navy blue cardstock as my distress ink surround for santa was a dark blue. I was a little heavy handed with the surround on this image, but I'm still learning. I've only done two sittings of Distress Ink painting a couple of images a time. So I'm happy with my progress so far. Live and learn as they say.

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while, know how much I love gingham, red gingham in particular. I don't use it that often on my cards, but love it when I do. I needed a Christmassy detail since I was in a hurry, so some self adhesive gingham fabric strips were perfect to finish the card along with a lovely gingham ribbon to thread the tag. I used a tiny heart punch to do the heart border. Don't look too closely, it's a little wobbly! I had some diecut offcuts which I taped behind with some more of the gingham fabric to fix in place as it made the little hearts stand out better with the white behind. The punched border is a Martha Stewart punch. Voila, sweet and simple.

I hope you will come and join in the fun on the Fab 'n' Funky challenge blog. My teamies have been hard at work preparing their gorgeous tag themed creations, so go check those out on the blog. I"ll be back with another crafty adventure soon, but not until I've cut some cake with my big 5 year old!

Hugs, Wends x

It's a lovely tag Wends. Your distress ink colouring is fabulous, the red gingham contrasts beautifully with the muted colours.
Hope your little boy has a wonderful birthday and that you're not feeling too sad that he's growing up too fast!
