Baby Shower ~ You'll Always Be My Baby
Hey there lovelies. I've been rushed off my feet since bringing the kiddos back from our lovely holibobs up the top of the North Island in New Zealand (pics in a previous post), as it was my sister's 'friends' baby shower on Saturday and I spent all Friday baking for that. We had an absolutely beautiful baby shower, it poured with rain across town where I live, but the sun shone so beautifully where my sis' lives and we had a truly magical celebration. I'd hosted a baby shower for the extended family a couple of weekends back and was rushing around the whole time, so my sweet sis' knowing this, asked me to her 'friends' shower, so I could relax and enjoy the celebration with her and help with a little baking too. Our mummy came too and we all had a truly beautiful afternoon with her besties who came from all over the North Island. Some all the way from Wellington.
I made her a sweet card for this 'friends' baby shower. I used a sweet Clearly Besotted stamp set called Woodland Kisses. It is an older Clearly Besotted Stamp set, but I know there's a good selection of lovely Clearly Besotted images in our wonderful Kiwi Craft store ~ Krafter's Cart. I finished the card with a few sequins to work in with the 'circle embellishments' theme we have at Southern Girls this week. But when I was laying them out, I didn't like the bigger sizes of the sequins, so I decided to ditch them and leave the card plain. But here are some pics I took when I was playing around with the sequin idea.
I masked those fluffy clouds and used a dusting brush and distress ink to create them. I couldn't find my cloud border die (yes I need to clean my craft den) so I just cut a few waves in a bit of heavier cardstock to create a new stencil. I masked off the bunnies and scene to do the ink dusting and also to add the green grass layer.
The scene was also created with masking. The toadstools and the wee tree stump had to be added after the bunnies were masked. Then the toadstool that's behind the front one was stamped after masking the front ones. Lots of fiddly work in the masking, but I love the way it all came together. I used my Copic Markers to colour these cuties.
I really do prefer this card without the sequins. It was all about the sweet image and simple ink work for me. My dilemma though after removing the sequins, was now what would I do for the current Southern Girls challenge?!! So like all good crafters, I went back to the drawing board and started again. So pop on over to the next post to see what my solution was. Hehe, clever pun there, which you'll only get, when you see the card! LOL.
But before you go, check out some more lovely pics of my sister's baby shower at the end of this post. It was such an elegant and beautiful event. No hint of kitsch in site! Just elegant and gorgeous. We had such a special day and my sister's friends were SO generous with her. She has some truly beautiful presents for her and bub. Ooh I can't wait for those baby snuggles. I'm beyond excited! I'll be back again in a few minutes, literally, hehe, as I'm all set to post the next card. So do check that out next. Hugs to you all, Wends xoxo
Update: My sis sent me a pic taken in better light after I'd given the card to her. So here's a pic update xoxo

This sweet stamp set comes with some rather adorable options, one of them is this little cluster of hearts, which I thought was perfect for the loving glance these two are giving each other. I added some Wink of Stella to the hearts and also to their sweet lil' noses.
I hung the card in my sister's tree to snap some pics. It was such a pretty scene
