Southern Girls ~ Team Lou ~ Anything Goes

Hey there crafty pals. I'm here to share my DT creation for Southern Girls first challenge of the year. I missed the challenge completely due to other commitments, but here is the card I made for our 'Anything Goes' challenge. We were sponsored by The Paper Shelter and Neat & Tangled. I chose this gorgeous Paper Shelter image for my creation as I just loved this enchanting image.

My Georgie is about to turn 14 at the end of February, so I made this as her birthday card. I think it's such a fun image for a teen. I added the hashtag 14 with a (now retired) Whimsy Stamps number die set, to mark her age and matted the image with the same blue, using a Whimsy Stamps Stitched Oval Layers die. I also cut a little La La Land corner die from the blue cardstock. This 'blue cardstock' is actually a paint chip. I picked up a handful when we were at the DIY store recently to look at colours and thought they'd be fun recycled on a card!

I love the paper I've used for this creation, it's from Simple Stories and is called Summer Fresh. It has such a lovely array of papers, all with a bright cheery summery theme. The little banner down the left hand side was cut from one of the pages. I think it's such a fun way to finish this card. I curled a couple of the edges to show the double sided paper pattern. I distressed the edges and layered this banner up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

I added Wink of Stella to the bits of the image I thought should sparkle, the horn, the stars, the gems, the cloud and the rainbow. It's hard to capture but is a lovely touch of sparkle in reality. I popped the image up on foam so it sat above the navy frame. Just for that extra bit of interest and dimension.

I coloured the image with my Copic Markers and decided to use blue to colour the hair. Georgie has been experimenting with her hair a bit lately so I thought she'd really LOVE this fun image and this bold hair colour. I can't quite believe my baby is about to turn 14!!

We have a brand new challenge starting this week at Southern Girls, so come along and play with the Team Trace lovelies this time. You have two weeks to enter and our theme is 'Love Is In The Air', so a fun theme with Valentines on it's way! I'll be back again really soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, have a gorgeous week and happy crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo
