The Paper Door ~ Something Fishy

Hey there my lovely crafty pals. I'm swinging in with the second of my posts for this evening and this one is the next installment in my June Paper Door creations. Man I just LOVE these kits and I have seriously had the best fun these past 6 months designing for the team. I definitely have too many balls in the air though, so this will be my last month designing with the team. It's a bittersweet ending as I really loved creating with these fab kits, so I'm making the most of this absolutely delish Mermaid set!

I decided I wanted to create a 'fishbowl' scene and I remembered that I had the perfect die from a Die-cutting Essentials Magazine (number 36 for those who like that info), it was published back in 2018. This fab set sprung to mind when I was envisioning this card and I think it turned out fab! I only used the fishbowl die, the rest of the ingredients are all from the Paper Door set. This set is soooo cool! It comes with tiny dies that cut out all those sweet sea creatures perfectly, so I thought they'd make the most fabulous shaker elements. I toyed with adding some sequins too, but in the end decided just to keep to the sweet sea creatures.

The first incarnation of this design, I stamped the sentiment directly on the card and added Judikin's Sparkle Embossing Powder for a bit of shimmer, it's really pretty in reality, doesn't show well in the pics. But hubby felt it was overshadowed by the wee fish in the fabulous paper. So, I changed it up a bit.

I stamped the sentiment again, in the Blue-green hued ink I used for the first mermaid creation I made. I stamped the little anchor again in a brown ink and then again in versamark ink and then added two embossing powders to create a 'verdigris' effect to the anchor. I think I possibly could have added more powder, but it had cooled too much when I thought of it and I was keen to just get it made up. Next time though, I think I'll go for a double layer. I've seen it done and it does add lovely dimension.

Here's a close up of these cute sea critters. I know I'll get loads of use from these so I'm super excited that my last Paper Door kit was a nautical one! I coloured these cuties up in sea blues and greens as there were already lots of colours going on and the fish I coloured to match the paper. How cute are they?! I will add 'just keep swimming' to the inside of this card to finish the sentiment and theme of the card off.

As You Like It: Favourite Stamp Brand & Why ~ well, there are loads of stamp brands I love, but my favourite and the one I design with the most is definitely Whimsy Stamps. Yes I design for them, lucky me! But I'd create with their images regardless and did before I started designing with them. I LOVE the range they have there, there's such a spread, from the sweet and cute to the edgy and funny. It's a seriously fabulous brand. My design today, is from their Paper Door range. (2nd entry)
