Whimsy Wednesday ~ Sweet Summer Dreams

Hey lovely crafty pals. It's the heart of Winter here in New Zealand, so it gives me joy to craft with some sweet Summer images to take my mind off the cold and chill we have here right now. Nothing could be sweeter than this cute image. She's a sweetie from our last release, which I didn't have time to colour up last month, but so wanted to! So here she is in all her summery sweetness.

I am so loving this notched square die from Whimsy Stamps. It just adds the right bit of interest to an otherwise plain square card. I use a circle punch to round the corners of the base card once I've added the patterned diecut paper onto it. It's easiest to get the punch lined up right once the patterned paper is in place. A 6x6 base card is perfect for this as the largest layer fits snuggly just inside a 6x6 base card, giving the design a framed edge. I like to simplicity of this look.

This cutie is from our Pollycraft Range at Whimsy Stamps and is called 'Millie'. She is seriously so cute and such fun to colour! I've coloured her up with my Copic Markers and added Glossy accents to the little fussy cut watermelon at her feet. I also added some Glossy Accents to the 'Sweet' diecut, for a little shine and texture.

I love to leave as much of the patterned paper showing, as you know, because I LOVE pretty paper and I never want to cover much of it, but I really had to add this lil' border of watermelon paper. It was just SO perfect for this card. I used a lacy hearts border die I had sitting on my desk to add an interesting border and then mounted the image panel on a gold doily and some foam and added it to the base layers. With all the bling from the gold doily, I felt very little else was needed. So I added a simple 'Sweet' word die which is an older Whimsy Stamps Word Die now sadly out of stock, but so perfect for this cute Summery themed make.

I'll be back next week with some more inspiration and of course the amazing Digital Divas will be showcasing this fabulous release over on the Whimsy Stamps Facebook Page, so do come on over and say hi! Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
