Whimsy Stamps ~ Oh Holy Night

Hello my crafty friends. I'm here with a special post to celebrate Christmas Day. This is the card I made for my Mummy. There's nothing more perfect than a biblical image for my Mummy and I know she's going to love this.

This image is the enchanting and timeless Star of Bethlehem by Crissy Armstrong. I love this sweet image and it's particularly meaningful for my family, as my Maiden Name is Shepherd, so to give my mummy a little Shepherd boy on her Christmas card, I think will go down very well. This was so lovely to colour. I used my copics and bravely added a dark sky, which was super scary! The star isn't as perfect as I'd have liked, but in reality has a nice shine to it.

I wanted the colours to reflect the simpler fabrics of the time, so went with muted tones and paired it with a lovely wooden paper of similar tones. I wanted a second paper to add a little interest, so chose a page of music and stitched the edges for a bit of interest. It was still a little plain, so I added a bit of netting and the lovely 'Believe' diecut sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps word die set. I've used my favourite frame die again to create the notched corner design. The little scene was slightly too large for the die, so I handcut this to mimic the lovely outer frame and inked the edges to finish.

Today, I'm celebrating Christmas with family out in our lovely Beachlands area in Auckland. Our week leading up to Christmas has been quite bleak, but we are forecast a nice day, so fingers crossed that's what we're having! There has to be some perks to a Summer Christmas! (Oh I do miss our British Winter Christmases!) But a Summer Christmas can be rather lovely. Wishing you all a wonderful celebration, heartwarming family time and treats that you love. Christmas hugs xoxo

This is beautiful Wends, I love that image, one of my favourite Christmas images and I love the cast shadows you added! I too am daunted by skies but you did a fabulous job. I love the whole card design particularly the mesh and fabulous music paper. Hope you enjoyed your summer Christmas and got the nice weather you hoped for! xx
