Whimsy Stamps Sunday Surprise

Hehe, why did I call it 'Sunday Surprise'? Because it's such a surprise I'm actually posting! Between Mr Mojo talking a long stroll he's yet to return from and life pulling me in multiple directions simultaneously, I've just not found time to craft lately. But not only did I craft this week, I actually managed to created something for Halloween, which I JUST LOVE. In addition to this, I've also managed to pull together a Tutorial to share on our Whimsy Stamps Inspiration Blog today, sharing the Halloween Wall Hanging I created last year for Halloween. I know, I know, that's a bit cheaty, but our lovely team has had more than its share of personal loss this month, with three of the team losing beloved parents. So, I've stepped in last minute and I thought with Halloween coming up, I'd share this fun Halloween Decoration as a Tutorial. If you recall it from last year, you'll also recall that the little Witches hat was a tutorial on its own, so I've added that as a downloadable PDF. You can click through to check this all out HERE.

Not only did I craft this week, but I had a fun adventure with some new pens! I have been wanting try these Karin Markers ever since I first heard about them and I'm so pleased that Whimsy now stocks them! These pens are LUSH! They're so full of colour and it spreads so easily. I've tried some different papers, to see if this makes a difference and quite honestly yes, treat them like watercolours,  you need to use good watercolour cardstock to get the best results.

I created a night sky scene for these cute Halloween elements. It wasn't until I'd finished colouring that it occurred to me this Jack-O-Lantern was being used as a candy basket, and really I shouldn't have made him 'glow' as if he had a candle inside, but just roll with it, hehe. I added some diecut bats from the Bats and Bubbles Border Die Set for a little feature in the night sky. I added a little Wink of Stella on their wings, which as you know, I really struggle to capture in photos! But you can spot a hint of sparkle right?!

I added the cute spiker from the Got Peepers Clear Stamp Set from Whimsy Stamps and added a little glow to the eyes for extra eeriness. Yep, he's suspended straight from the shiny moon! Hehe. Another artistic license you'll need to allow me! I managed to capture a little of the Wink of Stella shine on the moon and clouds in this shot.

I've only used these Karin Markers a couple of times in practice and play, this was my first attempt to create a card with them and I'm so happy with how it all came together! I mounted the finished inked up scene onto a thick foam mount which Whimsy sells. I really love this mounting foam, it has great depth and adds lovely dimension to creations. It's not obvious in photos, but in reality, when the card is in your hand, this little extra detail, adds a lot of class. I then added the inked and mounted panel straight to the backing paper which is from the Whimsy Stamps Licorice Paper Set. Don't be put off by all the pink in this set, there are some absolutely fabulous black and white papers which lend themselves to all sorts of creations and themes! Well, that's me for tonight, this was meant to go live last night, hence the name, Sunday Surprise, but life got in the way again. So it's turned into a Monday surprise, hehe.

If you've yet to check out our August release, click through on the link above and you'll be taken to the store. That link should give you $5 off your order, as a new referral scheme Whimsy is using. You can check out the full details here. Enjoy! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
