Whimsy Stamps ~ Halloween Coffin Tag

Hey there crafty friends, I'm back with another Halloween creation today. This is a cute image from our latest digital release at Whimsy Stamps. It is from our Meljen's Designs range and is called Lil' Vampire. I had the inclination to pair this cute vampire, with our fun Coffin Die set. So I cut the largest coffin in black cardstock, and the smaller one in a dark purple. I also cut the small skull from a pearlescent paper and added that to the two coffin layers that I had previously adhered together. I'm still struggling to get a crisp photo here on Blogger, but learnt a tip that if you click on the images it pops up a 'crisper' image, blogger seems to be displaying very compressed images at the moment. I'm desperately trying to find a solution or work around! But in the meantime, you can view a better image, by clicking the images and viewing them that way. Let me know if you've noticed these changes too!

I used the largest diecut coffin as a template to freehand cut an even larger coffin shape, to create the actual tag base from black cardstock. I used a fun die to create the pierced design on the largest coffin template, just to add a bit of interest to the design. I then layered the image over top, which was coloured with Copic Markers. I had really wanted to use the sentiment 'bleh bleh bleh' from another Dracula Stamp Set on here somehow, because my kids have so loved the Hotel Transylvania movies and it would have been such a fun finish, but I couldn't fit it without redesigning the tag, so will have to use that idea on another creation.

We're still in lockdown here in New Zealand, so no option to go out shopping for Halloween candy, but I did make a fun little 3D coffin candy holder in anticipation of this. I've lined it with orange satin fabric for a fun lush look and have filled it, in the absence of candy, with lots of creepy crawlies. I used a coffin template to create this from Kristy Dalman, who is the artist for Some Odd Girl. This was on her blog as a freebie for a number of years. I thought this paired quite well with my wee coffin shaped apothecary bottle tag.

Thanks for stopping in today, I hope you've enjoyed seeing this wee creation, or pair of creations in this case! They were both a lot of fun in the making and I've had such a creative rush since I've been working from home in lockdown, so I can't wait to share the next one with you.

I've got so many Halloween creations to share with you before this month is out, so I'm hoping to get another shared very shortly, watch this space. If you've not seen our Digital Release yet for this month, you can click through on the banner above to see them all. If you missed the freebies from our World Cardmaking Day event, you can now get those in store too and there are some real cuties!
