Whimsy Stamps ~ Monster Mash

Here I am back again as promised with another fun Halloween creation. I've wanted to design a card with this fun Frankenschmutz character for ages. I think he's just the funniest monster, with all the attitude to boot!

I used a fabulous Wonky Window Die from Whimsy Stamps to diecut the card base which I think adds so much interest and dimension to this creation. It elevates an otherwise rather plain card to the next level I think! I used some fantastic paper from their Halloween paper set called Haunted to create this card. I popped up the areas that were the 'frame' of the diecut pieces and recessed the central areas for a bit of height and dimension in the design. I used a green fun foam as the dimensional layer. I went for green, so it toned with the card base and the patterned paper, so when you look from the sides, it tones nicely.

I've added some little bats to the paper using liquid adhesive for that added bit of 3D interest to the design. Fabulous Frankenschmutz himself, was coloured with Copic Markers and then diecut using the matching Franken Schmutz Die Set. My little trick to make him 'fit the environment' better after diecutting him, was to colour the white border in colours matching the background, so he looks 'part of the scene'. I would have used black on the lower areas had the clothes been a different colour, but of course didn't want to loose the outline of the actual image, so went for shades of grey. But around his head where the moon was shining, I chose varying colours of green and then yellow to blend into the background. I think it works a treat!

I used a fun sentiment from the same Franken Schmutz Stamp Set as the image, which I cut into two halves, so I could lay it more easily across the largest panel. I used white pigment ink to stamp the sentiment. You know I was singing Monster Mash all through the creating of this fun card right?!

I hope you enjoyed seeing this fun Halloween creation. I've yet more to share over the month, so be sure to pop back and check those out too! I really do love creating for Halloween!
