Whimsy Stamps ~ Happy Easter friends!

Hey crafty friends, wishing you a wonderful Easter. Hubby has been working crazy hours all week, the kiddos are off school and varsity and we're all just a little bit knackered. So a quiet day celebrating Good Friday was in order today. I finished up a cute little card I had started for my sweet niece that we will be seeing tomorrow for her first Easter Hunt, where she'll actually be allowed to eat the treats! She's had severe allergies since birth and foods have been introduced slowly. This past year, her mama tried her with some plain chocolate and she was okay! So this will be a hunt extraordinaire for her and I'm so looking forward to her unbridled joy in it all. Of course, I had to make her a cute Easter card to go with her treats!

I made this fun background during the recent Online Card Classes I did which focused on Stencils. I used the fabulous Dotty 6x9 Stencil from Whimsy and a couple of colours from a Catherine Pooler Mini Ink Set. After stencilling the initial colours, I then went in with some little stamps from an older now retired Whimsy Stamp Set to add some fun texture to the dots. I used a target like stamp and a stripy stamp. I used tone on tone, so the effect was subtle and didn't take over. I then offset the stencil and went back in with some Glitter Paste. I didn't anticipate the colour change this would cause to the inks, but think it worked out quite fun, looking like lots of colourful bubbles.

I decided to add a little bit of extra interest to this background, by diecutting it with the 3in1 Mitered Frames from Whimsy. I added the centre panel flat to the card base and built up each layer with an additional layer of foam, to create a 'sinking middle' effect. A fun bit of extra interest and texture.

I coloured up that sweet bunny with Copic Markers and popped him in the bottom right corner with a mix of liquid glue and foam and finished the design with a simple Easter greeting stamped it Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink. The sentiment is from a now retired Whimsy Stamp Set. It was still in the store when I started the project, but has been in our retiring section, so boom, it's gone! If there's anything on your wishlist there, I encourage you to grab it soon, the discounts are amazing!

If you've not had a chance to check out the latest Whimsy release, be sure to pop over and check it out. Lots of lovely stamps, dies and elements perfect for remembrance cards. The New Release Team have absolutely knocked it outta the park again. Stunning showcase of the release. You can click through on the banner below to head to the store.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I'll be busy most of tomorrow with family celebrations, but look forward to catching up with a few of you after that. Hugs and happiest of Easter wishes xoxo
