Whimsy Stamps ~ Dragonfly Wishes

Hey my lovely crafty pals, I'm popping in today with my final share for the month of April. Can you believe we're in May tomorrow?! My hubby and one of my kiddos have May birthdays, so I'll be crafting for those special occasions and it's going to be another busy month! But I'm looking forward to the celebrating and special days. Our youngest is turning 13, so we have plans to celebrate this milestone birthday with some of his lovely friends. It should be fun! Today however, I'm popping in to share this sweet thank you card I've made.

I wanted a quick thank you card and had this lovely Spring paper sitting on my desk and also this dragonfly slimline background die, when I had the idea to combine the two and see what happened. I loved how it looked with all the little dragonflies cut out, but knew I had to do something special to make that feature stand out. So I added the panel with double sided tape to the card base while I thought about it.

I was thinking a sprinkling of glitter at first, but I think the white glitter I had in mind wouldn't have been striking enough to make the dragonflies stand out. I'd not added embossing powder over double sided tape before, so wasn't sure my experiment would work, but it did! The gold embossing powder stuck well to the tape and heat embossed beautifully, leaving these lovely shiny gold dragonflies in the background.

I really love how it came out and didn't want to cover it really, so opted for a very simple diecut 'thank you', which I hand cut a background for from white glitter foam. I turned the foam upside down and traced around the outside of the reverse of the diecut to get shadow layer. This worked really well, but not something I'd want to do all the time, so I've got the shadow layer on my wishlist now, as this thank you die is lovely and I know I'll use it lots.

Thank you for popping in to visit today. I'm hoping to find some time later this week to get around to some of you my lovely blogging friends. I'm sorry that I always end up leaving lots of comments all at once, but I do so love having a good catch up when I can! I'm back at work doing a short contract, so this week is going to be very busy, fingers crossed for some 'me' time in there somewhere.

I'll be back again with another crafty adventure, but in the meantime, check out the fun happening over in our Facebook Group. All the teams share their creations there and it's a fabulous place to recharge your mojo. Always worth popping in to the Inspiration Blog too, which, true to it's name, you're sure to leave inspired and enthused to create. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
