Whimsy Stamps ~ Monster Holiday
This has been such a fun adventure with these Monsters on Holiday! I have had such fun with this set of cards I created with the Summerween Quick Card Fronts. These are the last two of the six I made from this set. I'll be popping these in the post soon and happily they will post quite well, as there is very little extra dimension on any of them.
I had such fun with these two panels. They remind me of the cartoon films I watched with my kiddos when they were young. One in particular Hotel Transylvania has a Vampire dad who is teased about saying bleh bleh bleh all the time, so I really wanted to work that into this creation. Would you believe Whimsy had a stamp set which had that exact phrase?! They're so good at including fun phrases and sound bites into their sets! This made me so happy!
The stamp set this comes from is the Dracula I Compel You Clear Stamps. The Bats also came from this same set. The top sentiment is from the Quick Card Fronts Pack and I diecut it with the Quick Strips 4 Die Set to achieve those fun jagged edges. I added the sentiment to the card base with a bit of foam for a bit of dimension and interest.
The surfing monster is hilarious to me. His face!! The dude looks a little unhinged! I had the word 'Dude' in my head when I looked at that image and knew a set that had that word on it. I wanted to include a shark fin in this design, because it matched his 'crazy'. I mean, he's surfing with sharks!! I knew there was a sentiment in one of Whimsy's Meme sets which was perfect for his craziness too, so I pulled that out of the Meme FYI Clear Stamp Set.
The little island is such a fun addition to this scene too. It adds a little extra visual interest and I imbedded it into the scene after stamping by adding some white highlights with a white gelly roll pen. For the shark fin, I used a blue ink for the water ripples but added black onto the section which had the fin, so two tone stamping. Then I added the white pen highlights around the fin as if the water was breaking and frothing where the fin broke the water. When I stamped the island, it looked as if it was sitting 'on top' of the scene, it didn't look 'part of' the scene. But adding the white highlights suggesting the water breaking on the shore, really nestled it into the scene so well! Tiny details, but they really added to the overall finish. The Island, Shark and Bats all came from the two Summerween Stamp Sets. I've got an IG reel showing all six of the card set together. You can check that out here.
