Picture Perfect Day
My sister is a photographer and a super talented one at that! She's my kiddos God-mamma and an utter joy germ in our lives! Her 'joie de vivre' is infectious! We all love her to bits!! She's just had her birthday (she shares the same birthday as my hubby), so I thought I'd post the card I made for her. I have had my eye on using this image from Elisabeth Bell, ever since I saw it released! For me, it had Jani written all over it!!! It's such a sweet image, right down to the polka dot knickers!
I got to work with my trusty Promarkers, added a touch of glossy accents on the glasses and a touch of glitter here and there on the flowers and that was the image done. I used a lovely Spellbinders rectangular die to edge the image and popped a pink mat behind which I distressed with scissors (because I can't find my fabby Tim Holtz distressing tool since we moved back to New Zealand!). The sentiment was one I picked up in a huge bargain box of sentiments from the Ally Pally craft fair before we left the UK and I have to say, I have sooooooo many more I need to ink up! There were loads of really great ones, but this one I knew I'd use for Jani. I had some lovely backing paper I wanted to use with this image full of lush colours, so I kept it simple, just edging the paper with green faux stitching created using a new set of stitch stamps I picked up from Lili of the Valley. I used that beautiful pewter ribbon again, I just love it, but I've run out now, sadly. So that's the card recipe, and here after my long-winded blurb is the card.
Here's a close-up of Elisabeth Bell's sweet image. I totally muffed the hair, way too yellow, and it wouldn't soften with any of the tricks I tried, but hey, live and learn. Next time, I colour blonde, I'll pull out the straw colours, not yellows! Gotta say though, kinda works on this wee cutie.

I've always been super impressed with the results Jani got on that day, as we'd just stepped off a plane to Carcasonne in the South of France, we were tired, my hair was greasy, I had no make-up on and Georgie was grumpy. Yet, Jani still managed to work her magic and this is what we have as utterly timeless, priceless, beautiful memories of such a special time. Yep, she's talented all right!!!
Just while I'm on that lil' 'proud sista moment' here's the pic my sis won a highly commended place in the IGPOTY contest. That's my Georgie on the swing. Doubly proud moment for me! Okay, so just had to share my clever sis's stunning work and if you're interested to see more, you can visit her photography website here and her latest photography venture with business partner Fiona Hugues here.
